At Crimson Lights, Audra and Holden bicker about Claire. She’s still annoyed that he was stupid enough to say anything to her about their past (and we kinda can’t blame her). He admits that Claire dug around but came up empty. Audra warns that she doesn’t need Claire coming after her now that she has a new gig. Holden congratulates her on finally getting a real job.

Audra needles Holden about falling for Claire. Throwing up his hands, he declares he doesn’t want to be in the middle of this drama. Besides, Claire ended things since she sensed he was keeping things from her. “Good riddance!” Audra declares, adding that Claire never deserved him.

Nikki Considers Moving on

At the ranch, Nikki and Victoria continue to mull over using Summer. Victoria admits she’s worried about Nick. Something is really off with him; he’s in no shape to be going after Matt and the pill situation is concerning. They ponder the family’s dire situation, and Nikki curses Phyllis and wonders if they should all move on.

Billy Pleads His Case

At Billy’s place, he’s eager to win back Sally, but she reminds him they are supposed to be ending things. She fears they’re going to get stuck in the same old conversation they keep having. He wants tonight to be about reconnecting, insisting he wants to listen. Sally says that’s good because she wants to talk.

Sally launches into an expose on her father, a drunk carny who was always chasing after luck and falling flat. He failed at everything. When Billy suggests he didn’t get the faith he needed from people, Sally snaps at him. He assures her he’s not accusing her of anything.

Sally tells Billy he reminds her of her father and she can’t go through that again. This is news to him (even though they had this conversation a few months ago). He insists he’s never put business above her. Mmkay. He claims Chancellor means so much less without her there, and he still wants a life with her. When she wrote she loved him on his hand in Nice, that ink was indelible for him. Why did it fade so fast for her?

Kyle Gets the Scoop on Holden

At Society, Claire runs into Kyle, who is eager to buy her a drink. When she orders wine, he wonders if she’s left vespers behind, as well as what goes along with them. The Abbott guesses she didn’t learn as much as she wanted to in L.A. Claire is still convinced Audra was involved in the art gallery guy’s disappearance. Her recent good behavior has only made her more suspicious.

When Kyle tells Claire he hopes she’ll be happy with Holden, she admits she’s only become more wary of him. He’s been lying and evasive. Whatever he has been hiding, it must be truly awful.

The Final Scenes

At the Newman ranch, Victoria tells her mother she’s refusing to back down. She will not give up until they get back everything that belongs to them.

Back at Society, Kyle and Claire speculate on what happened to the art dealer. She doesn’t shy away from suggesting that Audra and Holden made him vanish. That’s why Holden’s not an option for her any longer.

At Crimson Lights, Audra urges Holden to find someone new to trust. Women other than Claire have dimples and they won’t land him in jail. He’s sure that Claire has moved on from both of them now. Audra needs to hear that so she’ll never have to see her again.

Back at Billy’s, he tells a sobbing Sally they can still build a life together. Chancellor is one half of his destiny, and she is the other. They can be great again. Picking up a pen, he says he wants her to believe in them. He writes that he loves her on her hand to send the message to her heart. They kiss.
