Having just weathered Billy’s latest crazed attempt at wresting back control of Chancellor Enterprises, his and Sally’s relationship is reasonably solid going into the unexpected pregnancy. However, there are plenty of challenges ahead for the pair, who nearly called it quits in recent months.

Billy’s set to confront the volatile emotions surrounding his difficult relationship with his mother, Jill, which could very well send him into another of those tailspins he tends toward. While that could bring up issues down the road, it’s the complications we’ve already caught a glimpse of that are more concerning.

Sally, of course, was pregnant in the past with Adam, and their baby, Ava, didn’t make it. This tore Sally apart and left her filled with trepidation at the idea of potentially having to face such devastating heartbreak a second time. That will bring up a torrent of emotions for the redhead that are going to be pervasive.

As one might expect, given that complications are the name of the game on soaps, Courtney Hope teased in a recent chat with Soap Opera Digest, that Sally’s thoughts will “absoultely turn toward Adam” as she relives the pain and tries to process her fears amid the new pregnancy. After all, she and Adam are forever connected by their shared love and grief for the child they conceived and lost.

We’re gonna go ahead and guess that Sally’s pregnancy news will have an emotional impact on Adam as well, especially given he’ll have to wrap his mind around her not only having a baby, but having one with his nemesis, Billy Abbott.

While it doesn’t appear at this point that Sally and Adam would be drawn back together romantically, anything is possible in Genoa City, where a lot can happen in nine months!
