As Marlena’s telling Belle how cathartic saying her “last farewell” to Stefano was, Brady shows up to let the ladies know that he found a place a few blocks away. He’s moving in tomorrow in case Rachel’s discharged.
Rachel Could Be In Trouble
Marlena’s a bit surprised, so Brady explains Kristen’s Bayview problems. Belle makes it clear that if Brady can’t keep Rachel in Bayview, her legal troubles could be so much worse. They need to show the judge that she’s getting treatment and her parents are committed.

Brady promises he’ll talk to Kristen tomorrow after the memorial is over and done.
The DiMeras Remember Stefano
The DiMera boys get down into the crypt with Stefano’s ashes, then Kristen wanders in and starts picking a fight right off the bat with EJ and Theo and Chad try getting everyone to play nice. Like that will happen…
After debating (fighting over) whether Peter’s actions were from mental illness or Stefano’s cruelty (probably a little of Column A, a dash of Column B), Theo insists on hearing the truth of Stefano, since he only knew the kindly grandfather.

More: What Stefano’s memorial made clear
Tony starts and they list off a litany of Stefano’s crimes against his own children. Kidnapping, brainwashing, stealing from and tormenting birth parents. Then Tony notes that Stefano cast him aside for EJ — since he wasn’t flesh and blood.
Then there was his obsession with Marlena, a trait they all inherited. Obsessing over Sami, John, Brady, trains, three-toed sloths (Theo’s obsessions are more fun). But at least they also all inherited his love of family and devotion to kids!
It’s Time to Say Goodbye to Stefano
After wondering how his bones got down there — EJ keeps his mouth shut about Rolf — they put the urn in a receptacle and put their flowers on top of it, one by one. Chad will remember Stefano’s unwavering love of family, Kristen how he captured her heart (despite hating him now).
Theo remembers how his Nonno always made him feel valued (and brings up Lexie again). EJ says goodbye and how honored he is to be his son, while Tony remembers Stefano’s vigorous embracement of life. “You invariably gave it your all.”
Everyone but EJ heads back to the house for some drinks — after Chad tells him how important he is to him. They love each other and both hope things turn around soon. Finally on his own, EJ sits and talks to his dad. A part of him will never believe that Stefano’s really, truly gone.
Stefano’s Heir Is Chosen
He pulls out a fountain pen from Rita — something he always insisted on using, and puts it in with the urn. Then, as he’s waxing on, the crypt door opens, he turns and… “What are you doing here??”

More: Stefan *has* to be alive now!
But it’s just Dr. Rolf saying goodbye. Though he’s the one who put Stefano there to begin with… EJ says his dad would be proud of the work he’s doing and Dr. Rolf tells EJ that his last instruction from Stefano was to give him The Phoenix ring (again) when the time was right.
Up at the house, Chad, Tony and Theo toast to Stefano while listening to his favorite Wagner song. They get into Chad’s latest drama, between the custody and Thomas’ teacher, Jeremy, being accused of stalking. Tony suggests Chad take the kids on a sunny holiday and wait things out. Chad might just do that.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Kristen shows up at Marlena’s. She heard he found a new apartment and it’s perfect timing for… Rachel! The kid’s in tow, and Belle and Marlena are behind Brady looking horrified. Brady brings her in and an oblivious, joyful Rachel goes to get a cookie, leaving everyone to yell at Kristen. Belle lays out the legal peril she just put Rachel in.
They send Rachel to bed and Kristen just shrugs and says everything can be figured out in the morning, then leaves.
Rolf tells EJ that it’s not a copy. It’s the original ring, and it’s time for him to continue Stefano’s legacy, “with poise and precision.” After the good doctor leaves, EJ slips the ring over his finger, places his hand on the urn’s sarcophagus and we see a flashback of Stefano conducting away. (So, what does this mean for EJ and the DiMeras??)
