It’s Official, Ryan Gosling Is Heading to Days of Our Lives! Now There’s Just One Thing the Show *Has* to Do!
The twists, they keep on turning in the Ryan Gosling/Days of Our Lives saga. And in the latest one, the mega star is heading to the set! Yup, the mega star has accepted Deidre Hall’s “cordial invitation” to Days of Our Lives and just about jumped at the chance to meet Marlena, possessed or not!
On the off chance someone hasn’t been following the story, Gosling appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast interview with Josh Horowitz, while on the press tour for his new film, Project Hail Mary. He admitted to Horowitz that he was a huge fan of Days of Our Lives growing up, remembered how taken he was by Deidre Hall’s performance as a possessed Marlena, and shared how much respect he has for the amount of work that goes into daytime.
And the folks over at Days of Our Lives (not to mention the entire soap world who work their butts off to make daytime magic happen) took notice. And Hall was especially tickled by — so much so that she sent a video to Horowitz (where she “dragged” him just a hilarious bit for not knowing about the wonders of daytime or Marlena’s possession) and invited Gosling to visit the set!
“We think it would be nice if you wanted to come over and see what we do in our neck of the woods,” the daytime legend shared. “So this is an open invitation to visit the Days of Our Lives set. Nobody will be possessed,” she teased. “And if they are, I’ll keep an eye on you.”
And Gosling wasted no time in sending his own Instagram video back from the Project Hail Mary account. And, well…
“Deidre Hall,” he exclaimed, “are you kidding me?? Yes, this is a very enthusiastic ‘yes’ to a very cordial invitation to visit you on set. I will be there to thank you in person for being my OG acting inspiration. It wasn’t Marlon Brando and On the Waterfront. It wasn’t [Robert] De Niro in Taxi Driver. It was you.”
He went on to thank her for the offer and thank Josh Horowitz for making the whole thing happen, “even though he obviously doesn’t know what he doesn’t know. But he knows now, or at least he’s gonna know.” (Ooh, a rare double dragging!)
“Any time,” Gosling told Hall. “Anywhere. You tell me I’ll be there.”
“I’m not worried about the possession,” he added. “I’ll say a Hail Mary before I get there.” (We see what you did there.) “I’ll be fine, and I’ll see you on set.”
The one thing we feel the show has to do, though, is that if he does film a guest stint or a cameo, the show should strike while the iron’s hot, instead of waiting another nine months to air it. They can film some scenes and add it to existing episodes in editing, because otherwise we won’t be seeing anything until 2027!
But hey, however it goes down, this is just downright exciting!
