Something’s wrong with Lexie on Days of Our Lives. And we aren’t talking about the fact that she’s likely to die once again, leaving Abe and Theo and her loved ones devastated once more. (Between the show’s summer teaser and the mousey Miracle Max’s death on Monday, it seems like a foregone conclusion.) Instead, we’ve been more concerned with her personality. It has not been pleasant!

And sure, we can imagine coming back from the dead after 15 years or so would leave anyone reeling, but since she woke up, Lexie’s been so harsh mean that even EJ commented on it! He, though, attributed it to her DiMera side asserting itself more, which very much delighted him. But we could swear that he also seemed to be a bit uneasy.

But then a post on the Days of Our Lives subreddit by Redditor u/Hustleculture313 got right to the heart of the matter: “I wonder if Lexie will remember coming down from Heaven and giving Abe and Paulina her blessing.”

Days - Abe and Paulina, under a bright light, look up at the back of a figure, who is Lexie come down from heaven

And that was what we had completely forgotten! Paulina was dying, and Lexie came down from heaven to help Abe heal her with his love and give her blessing to him moving forward. Days of Our Lives established with Bo, Marlena, Kayla and Kate that Salemites can “die” enough to go to heaven, only to be pulled back. So while Paulina’s miracle was a deus ex machina plot point in almost its most literal form, it still happened.

And while the other “resurrections” established that the heavenly memories are mostly forgotten and hazy, at best, the Lexie that helped save Paulina is a lot closer to the Lexie we remember. She’s never been an angel. She’s definitely hurt Abe in the past. But Lexie wasn’t this meanspirited before. And even if she doesn’t remember the heavenly stuff, how could she be so different now?

Heck, when she told Abe to essentially ghost Paulina, the woman he’s been married to and loved for years and she’d “get the hint,” it was just utterly cruel! And worse, Abe didn’t call her on it! So either Lexie was harsher than we remember, or Abe is so excited to have her back, he’s got blinders on. At this point Theo may be seeing — or at least feeling — that something’s wrong better than his dad. His unease with the whole thing could be a lot more intuitive than “There’s too much change.”

This being Days of Our Lives, we could imagine some explanation along the lines of “Lexie came back soulless” and she’s really still in heaven — but that does seem like a lot. Instead, we’re guessing that while bringing a body back from death is one thing, the mind is another. Maybe resurrection can heal a brain physically, but if something was lost after dying, it may be lost for good. In this case, that something seems to be Lexie’s empathy.

She’s back and she wants what’s hers. There’s no kindness extended to anyone who gets in her way. And if, in the end, she ends up dying once again, bringing her back — like this no less — for a brief period to cloud everyone’s happy memories could be one of the cruelest things EJ’s ever done.
