EJ’s Dark Turn Doesn’t Go Unnoticed, and Kristen Forces Brady to Play Ball

Kristen and Brady are enjoying some coffee in the Pub after dropping Rachel off at school. Oh, and it’s Valentine’s Day! Brady is fed the hell up with Kristen, though. OK, so “enjoying” coffee may have been a bit presumptive.

Brady and Kristen Redux?

Kristen, apparently, knows what Rachel needs better than her doctors. And better than Belle. She has (oh, God) a plan for Rachel’s legal problems. They just need her in an intensive outpatient program with Dr. Marlena Evans’ stamp of approval. Right, because a judge would look at a grandmother weighing in on a granddaughter’s treatment and think: “No conflict of interest here!”

Brady counters by saying he’s suing Kristen for full custody. She makes vague threats about it backfiring for Rachel, so instead, she’ll agree to joint custody and move in with Brady and here we go again! Anything else, and he’ll do psychological and legal damage to Rachel. Good. Lord. Brady agrees to one month until the hearing is over. Sigh.

Should Leo Help Dimitri?

Leo drops in at Marlena’s for an emergency session about Dimitri’s arrest. She points out that he’s being super emotional about one of Dimitri’s greatest pastimes: Getting arrested.

This time, Leo’s sure Dimitri’s innocent. He believes Dimitri’s tale of woe about being held captive. Dimitri’s not capable of DiMera family-level murdering. Plus, he’s sure Gwen is behind this all, though he blames himself for ruining the wedding because of his feelings for Dimitri and waffling too much. (OK, but Javi was not helping, Leo.)

Anyway, he wants to help Dimitri and wants Marlena to give him permission because he’s about to make things worse with Javi. She doesn’t think that would be betraying Javi, which is good enough for Leo!

Can Melinda Keep Dimitri Out of Jail?

As Rafe’s interrogating Dimitri at the PCPD, Melinda does her thing and barges in demanding justice for her very well-paying client. She does make some good points about Vivian’s trustworthiness, but Rafe’s got plenty of evidence to overlook that.

Trask calls his bluff, so Rafe leaves the two alone. Melinda tells Dimitri that he better find evidence backing up his claims fast. Or he’s sunk. Trask talks circles around everyone at the arrangement and gets Dimitri out on bail. Well, small circles. It’s a $1,000,000 bail and, since Dimitri’s a flight risk, he’ll have to wear an ankle monitor. Gwen should have fun with that. Speaking of whom…

What’s Wrong With EJ?

Gwen catches EJ slipping the Phoenix Ring on and talking to the portrait. She gives her condolences, but honestly, EJ’s talking weird, smiling, speaking about Stefano in “poignant” terms. He just raises a glass when Gwen says he’s got a strange aura to him.

But whatever it is, she needs to share her good news: Dimitri was arrested! That just ticks EJ off, since now Vivian won’t pay for being the actual one to kidnap and try to kill the DiMeras! Allegedly. He gets right in Gwen’s face with this new, intense attitude.

He won’t let Vivian go along thinking she’s immune, and he won’t wait for the law. He’s going to do what Stefano would have done, and mete out justice himself. Then he looks at the portrait again. (Gonna get a neck crick if he keeps looking at Stefano.)

Gwen shrugs it off and tells EJ about Gabi and Stefan. She’ll put a show on off looking into Stefan, but not waste much effort — which is when EJ warns her not to cross Gabi. Pish posh, Gwen will be fine, and the $50k will tide her over until Dimitri’s thrown away and her assets are unfrozen.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Kristen finds Gwen out in the square and shares the happy news that she’s moving in with Brady and Rachel. Brady heads back to Marlena to tell her sad news that Kristen’s moving in with him and Rachel. Marlena’s reaction is probably almost everyone’s: “Oh, Brady!”

EJ fiddles with the ring a bit and calls someone to “send a message to Vivian Alamain.” But he hangs up fast and yanks the ring off when Susan shows up. She screams and flinches back and tells EJ that Stefan’s “evil is inside of you!” Well, that’s ambiguous. But we have thoughts!
