Days of Our Lives Nabs General Hospital Fave — But Could She Bring Back a Familiar Face In Another Soap Switch?

You’ve got to love a good soap swap, and it looks like Days of Our Lives is about to give us a doozy as Sofia Mattsson has joined the Peacock sudser! The actress left General Hospital just this past summer after seven years as the beleaguered, oft-tormented Sasha.
She took her and Michael’s daughter, Daisy, and fled Port Charles, scared off by an increasingly deranged Willow. At the moment, they’re ostensibly living with Sasha’s dad, Robert, and while we thought we might get to see her again when the show said farewell to Tristan Rogers and his character, it looks like that may not happen.
Because, Mattsson is filming over at Days of Our Lives and is set to appear early in 2027! Check out the show’s Instagram announcement below!
There’s no word yet on who she’s going to play, and the sky is the limit as to whether she’ll be tackling a new character or taking over for an established one. But we’re pretty sure we already know the theory that’s going to jump to most fans’ minds: Abigail! (In fact, you’ll already see that suggestion quite a few times in the Instagram post’s comments!)
Chad’s deceased wife has been teased for years. First there was Cat’s deception, then Abigail’s missing body. And now EJ’s going about resurrecting DiMeras and he’s already made clear that he’s got more “subjects” to play around with. So it’s not at all hard to see a path for Abigail’s resurrection and return!
And if Mattsson does step into Abigail’s shoes, it would be another fun twist seeing as how Kate Mansi, who memorably played the role, is currently playing Kristina over on General Hospital. It would definitely give us shades of Conner Floyd’s soap switch! The Young and the Restless’ former Chance is about to begin airing as Chad, after Billy Flynn left the role to take over for Cane on the CBS soap.
For the moment, all we can do is guess and welcome Mattsson to the Days of Our Lives family! We just may be waiting a bit to find out where she fits into that family!
