Chad’s back in Salem today as Conner Floyd finally makes his Days of Our Lives debut. And right off the bat, he’s running smack into Cat! That alone is sure to be the source of plenty of drama, and then add on Lexie’s return, Kristen’s revenge/murder plot, EJ’s feelings for Cat…

Things are about to get very messy for Chad, but as Floyd shared with Soaps.com, the switch from The Young and the Restless’ Chance to Salem has “been nothing but an easy transition.”

As Floyd shared a little while back, he and Billy Flynn (now Young & Restless’ Cane) got to talk about all things Chad for a bit, giving him time to “sit” with the character. “When I started, I felt like I kind of got a grasp for him. And now, I’m still working out the kinks and learning this guy.”

But he also prepared by going through old Days of Our Lives episodes. And some of them, it sounds like, were quite old!

“I went back and I watched a lot of Stefano, Joe Mascolo,” Floyd explained. “I watched a lot of Billy, but then I went back to the roots. I really wanted to watch Joe and see what he was doing because Stefano was brought up in just about every script that I read. And he’s had such an impact on everyone in Salem.”

Just about every script? OK, that is a lot of Stefano! But then, Chad’s return comes just as Lexie’s about to wake up and the brother he’s always been closest to is heading into full-on villain mode. Heck, EJ is practically turning into Stefano. At the very least, he’s living up to the Phoenix ring’s legacy in all the worst ways possible!

But EJ’s not the only one who takes after their dad. As Floyd explained. “I figured Chad should have a little bit of Stefano in him,” he teased. “I just tried to find this very loose, easygoing little bit of [an] Italian-rooted guy, and we’ll see if it’s playing.”

As for what’s ahead, all Floyd would tease is that, “Chad’s at a bit of a crossroads. He’s dealing with his family legacy. He’s trying to forge his own path, but the DiMera path just kind of seems to always get in the way.”

Does that path involve Belle or Cat? Is he sticking with The Spectator or will the crises at DiMera convince him to return? And will he pick sides in the Kristen/EJ feud? There’s no way he’ll want his nephew dead, but we don’t see Chad being too happy with all of EJ’s conniving. When all is said and done, will his own path lead him to wrest control of the family legacy from his backstabbing, infighting siblings? Only time will tell!
