In Los Angeles, Claire and Holden walk into the hotel cafe, recall what a good time they had there the last time, and how it changed when they got back to Genoa City. She partially blames Audra. Holden hopes that she hasn’t come to dig into Audra’s past again. Claire dodges the question.

It’s not long before Claire presses Holden to admit he’s there on Cane’s orders. This doesn’t sit well with her, so he explains that he’s only looking into whether Lily and the twins have been abducted. She assumes they suspect her grandfather is involved somehow and defends him… because, of course she does.

After Holden leaves to meet with the PI, Claire gets a call from a gallery. She pretends to be interested in art and asks how she can get in touch with a specific dealer.

Victor Reassures Nikki

At the ranch, Nikki complains to Victor that they are keeping Devon from Lily when he needs her. Victor’s confident that their fight with Cane should be resolved by day’s end and assures her Lily is fine. Nikki seems skeptical. Victor’s offended at the suggestion he would ever do anything to Neil’s daughter. A text arrives, and he shows Nikki footage of Lily and the twins in a hotel room, safe and sound.

Adam, Victoria, and Nick Discuss Their Dad

At Society, Adam, Nick, and Victoria speculate on whether their father would really abduct Lily with the Mariah situation ongoing. He’s refused to give them details, so it’s impossible to trust him. The situation is getting more dangerous now that Cane is threatening to retaliate against their family.

Victoria tells her brothers they need to come up with a plan in case everything goes south, especially a legal plan. Since it could take a long time to drag Cane through the courts, Victoria wants Nick to try to convince Phyllis to betray Ashby.

As they wonder how far their father would really go, Adam admits he’s never seen “the old man” like this; he’s up all night texting him. If he’s managed to get Lily on board, he must have offered her something huge. Perhaps Chancellor? His siblings doubt Victor would cross Nikki that way; it could end their marriage. Just then, they’re summoned to the ranch.

Cane Under Stress

In the Newman office, Phyllis flashes to Victor’s threat that she’s heading for a fall. She looks around the room, eager to do more than change the interior design. Billy shows up, looking for Cane, and the insults start flying. Billy thinks she’s delusional and has no real power; she’s just a “sidekick.” Phyllis is sure he’ll fail again.

Cane hurries in, not in the mood for any of this. After getting an update on Jill from Billy, he asks them both to go. Billy demands confirmation that their deal is going ahead. His lawyer has reviewed the contract and it’s waiting for Cane’s signature. Ashby can’t deal with that right now. As Billy demands this be sorted out now, Phyllis jumps in to bicker with him. Cane orders them out again.

Cane gets a call from Holden, who met with the PI and saw footage of Lily and the twins being taken at their hotel. Billy is baffled about what’s going on. Cane won’t explain and orders him out. Once he’s alone with Phyllis, Cane informs her that Victor made good on his threats. The “proof” from Victor arrives and he shows it to her. She begs Cane not to fall for this.

Phyllis Offers Billy a Way to Win

In a fury, Billy tears home and curses Cane. As he pours a drink, Phyllis arrives, warning that Cane is about to fold like a tent. If that happens, they’ll lose everything. She has an idea how they can keep all they want… but they need to act immediately.

Cane Folds

At the ranch, Victor tells his children that Cane is ready to make a deal. He shows them the “proof” he used to convince Ashby that he’d nabbed his family. As far as he’s concerned, this is a done deal. Victoria isn’t convinced and thinks they need a Plan B. Adam asks his father what he offered Lily to get her involved. Victor refuses to say.

Cane storms in, spitting mad. Victor guesses he received the proof. After cursing him, Cane concedes that his rival has won. He will sign his companies back over to him on the condition that he gives him proof that Lily and the twins have been released.
