Alex Catches Jeremy and Stephanie Doing the Last Thing He Wanted and Maggie and Kate Take the Gloves Off

Ari stops into the Hernandez home to see Javi, but finds Gabi instead. And it’s the first time Ari’s learning how serious her mom and Philip are — and that they’re moving in together!

Ari gives her mom a few tips about living at the Kiriakis mansion like: “Stay away from the drama.” Speaking of which, they compare notes on the hot goss with One Rainy Afternoon and why Theo might have quit DiMera. Ari promises to keep her ears open and heads out.

Bonnie’s Book Signing Disaster

Bonnie strolls into the bookshop for her book signing and breaks the news about that awkward plagiarism business. Julie’s not thrilled, but she can’t get much info before Liam shows up to apologize for missing his tutoring on account of being shot. This is Salem, so Julie completely understands!

Sadly, no one shows up to the signing but Ari — Bonnie’s reaction? DiMera sent an intern?! — and Julie gets served a court order from Titan by a guy there to collect Bonnie’s books. She melts down and leaves for a stiff drink, while Liam offers to help pack up the books. Such a good guy! Things are super awkward between him and Ari. Julie thanks him for all his help and offers him a job. He’ll take it!

Can Maggie Fire Kate?

Kate finally shows up at Maggie’s office for a dressing down. It gets ruthless as Maggie tries putting Kate in her place as her subordinate and Kate accuses Maggie of being pathetic and not having what it takes to save Titan. Plus, she was with Victor longer and gave him a son!

“I was the love of Victor’s life,” Maggie snaps, then has to take a call from Julie asking about the injunction on Bonnie’s book. Well, well, well, that’s more grist for Maggie’s mill. She hangs up and tells Kate she will never go behind Maggie’s back and scheme with Xander again or she’ll no longer have a job.

Where Is Stephanie?

Alex tries calling Stephanie, but it goes straight to voicemail, so he hurries out to the Pub where Trivia Night is almost starting. Roman’s got no clue where Stephanie is, so Alex takes the moment to apologize for Titan’s lawsuit against Johnny and lays it entirely at Kate’s feet. Roman makes a face and goes to check on food.

Gabi arrives for Trivia Night and asks if Alex and Stephanie want to join, but since there’s no Steph, that’s a no. Roman gets back, hands Alex food for himself and Stephanie and sends the newlywed on his way.

Jeremy and Stephanie Bond

Stephanie’s thinking back to her fight with Alex in the square when Jeremy finds her catching her breath on a bench and asks how he can help. She tells him all about Alex and his overprotectiveness, so Jeremy talks her up, saying she’s anything but weak. She helped get them free!

In fact, there’s no one else either of them would have rather been held captive together! Jeremy listens intently as Stephanie opens up about being a different person, and her fight with Alex. The only one she feels like she can talk to is Jeremy, since they were in it together. He hugs her just as Alex finally hits the square, sees them and walks off.

Or at least, he tries to. Stephanie sees him, jumps up and calls him over, while Jeremy hightails it out of there. Alex puts on a stiff upper lip and tells Stephanie he’s glad that somebody was able to help him.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Liam apologizes to Ari for not responding to her texts. “It’s not good for you to be around a guy like me,” he says and leaves, ignoring Ari’s protests.

Maggie sends Kate away, making it clear she won’t tolerate whispers, schemes or power plays.

Alex and Stephanie get home, and he admits he’s more envious of Jeremy, than mad. Stephanie’s not up for talking, though, and wants to go to bed. Alex doesn’t let her go without telling her the only thing he wants is to be there for her. A few disheartened “I love you’s” and she leaves him alone on the couch.
