On the heels of Young & Restless penning a rather anti-climactic end for Claire’s crazy aunt, fans expressed dismay over Jordan’s death, and it turns out they’re not the only ones who felt that way. Colleen Zenk, who played the deliciously devious villainess, was unhappy about the exit as well.
As viewers now know, Crazy Aunt Jordan™ met her maker in the tack house on the Newman ranch with several family members, including her niece Claire, standing around watching. After a puzzling twist in the story saw the madwoman allowing herself to be lured into the lion’s den, as it were, it came as a surprise to no one that she ended up cornered with no hope of escape. Opting to go out on her own terms, Jordan seized a tainted cup of tea and downed it rather than allow the family she so loathed to send her back to prison.
This turn of events didn’t go over well with fans who were either hoping for Jordan to wreak more havoc in Genoa City before Zenk’s latest stint came to an end, or who were hoping that her exit would have been written so as to leave the door open for future returns. The star who played the role admitted that she too was “sad Jordan went away so quickly.”
Amid an exit interview in which she expressed her gratitude for her many scene partners, including Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki), Eric Braaeden (Victor), Ray Wise (Ian), and of course, Hayley Erin (Claire), Zenk told TV Insider, “I thought that Ian and Jordan would go out like Bonnie and Clyde together.”
Indeed, separating the partners-in-crime-turned-lovers was a curious choice and something of a letdown to the audience members who loved watching them riff off of one another in their many scenes in that dingy motel room.
Could our favorite new villianess return even though we saw her die onscreen? Well, in soap operas we never say never, and this twist in Jordan’s death would change absolutely everything!
