Young and Restless May Sweeps: Phyllis’ Nervous Breakdown, Summer Scrambles & Billy Flynn Reveal

Young and the Restless May sweeps are ahead and we’ve got 15 more episodes left of action ahead for Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), who is about to kick off an epic spiral. Summer Newman‘s (Allison Lanier) going to be scrambling both personally and professionally, and there’s the reveal of Billy Flynn’s new role. We’re going to talk about a few things we’re hoping to see before Sweeps winds down on May 21st.  more.

Young and the Restless: Sweeps Swing into Gear

All right, so the first storyline to talk about is Summer, who’s having a really rough week and things get worse going deeper into sweeps. Looks like she’s about to lose both Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) from Marchetti and that’s going to be quite problematic.

Sally is going to be going to work with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), it looks like, and Chelsea’s heading over to work with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). So yeah, Summer’s getting dumped for a double boyfriend treat.

However, she may be even more upset about Claire Grace Newman (Hayley Erin) and Kyle Abbott’s (Michael Mealor) big plans. You know, right now Claire and Kyle are picking up speed, they’re head over heels in love and they are moving in together as soon as they find a place.

So when Summer Newman finds out, of course, she’ll freak. Time is up for her to get Claire out of Kyle’s life. It’s going to be much harder to separate them once they’re shacked up. So I fully expect Summer to find out and hatch a plan during May sweeps.

Young and the Restless: Kyle Set up?

She may have the same idea Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) has. Set Kyle up to look like a cheater or to actually cheat, and whether it’s with her or someone else, as long as it gets him away from Claire, you know, that’s a win for her. Maybe Summer even teams up with Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver).

You know, Victor Newman might actually push those two together Summer and Audra can conspire against Kyle. But whatever Summer tries probably is going to blow up in her face. I suspect she has got no chance with Kyle, but Summer Newman may be hard to convince of that. She is her mother’s daughter.

Audra Under Pressure: Victor’s Deal and Nate’s Reaction

Our next topic is Audra. She’s under pressure from Victor to make Kyle look like a cheater in exchange for him giving Audra a company of her own, and she really, really wants the company. So Audra may come clean to Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) about her deal with Victor. Audra’s taking a big risk pretending to seduce Kyle. She hasn’t done it yet, she’s trying to figure it out, but it’s in play.

And once Victor finds out Claire is moving in with Kyle, well, of course, it’s going to be trouble. Victor’s going to put the screws to Audra and change the terms of their agreement. Rather than conceding defeat, she may tell Nate about the offer that Victor made. Now, I will say it feels like a long shot because Audra likes to hold her secrets close and she’s got a lot, but I do like her and I like her with Nate.

Young and the Restless: Trouble Ahead for Audra?

And if he finds out, Audra will most likely lose him. But if she at least tells Nate Hastings about this plan. He doesn’t like her working with Victor, but if she comes clean, they may stand a chance on Young and the Restless.

But I can’t see Nate being okay with her setting up Kyle and playing this dirty to get what she wants by giving Victor something he wants. Nate doesn’t like it at all but he may respect Audra’s honesty, which could be her saving grace. But I don’t know if Audra will work up the nerve to actually tell Nate. So I feel like big trouble is ahead for Audra before May sweeps is over.

Phyllis Summers’ Downward Spiral: Fired and Focused on Daniel

Next, let’s talk about Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). She is rapidly spiraling out of control. Things are getting so much worse for her now that Billy fired her. Plus, Phyllis is so hyperfocused on Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) that it almost feels like she’s looking at him because she’s so deeply in denial about her own problems, which are many.

And now that Phyllis is fired, she may feel like she has nothing. You know, already Summer and Daniel are worried about their mom. So once Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) is back in town, Daniel may talk to Sharon and ask for some help with Phyllis. So, you know, we could even see Daniel and Sharon work together to get her some help.

It seems pretty clear that Phyllis definitely needs some intensive psychotherapy. But since her kidnap ordeal with Sharon was at Havenhurst Clinic, I just can’t imagine that Phyllis would ever consider checking in for inpatient care at a facility. And can you blame her?

All right, now that Billy fired her, Phyllis is coming apart at the seams. You know, and to be fair, having a job with Billy would not stop her breakdown. It definitely seems like it’s imminent and the job was just a distraction for Phyllis, just like her hyperfocusing on Daniel. After what she and Sharon went through, Phyllis has some sort of PTSD. So there’s no telling what she may do and how far she may fall.

Victor Newman Faces Karmic Comeuppance from Nikki, Victoria, & Michael

All right, next, May sweeps may bring a huge karmic kick in the pants to Victor. He’s manipulating everybody around him, he’s lying to Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), to Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle), a bunch of other people, and Victor is pretty much just out of control. He’s lashing out, he’s certain he’s right and everybody else is wrong. But three women in his life, Claire, Victoria, and Nikki, are about to serve Victor some comeuppance.

Nikki already made it clear she wants him to stop trying to break up Claire and Kyle, but he won’t stop. So Nikki’s gonna go behind Victor back this week. Nikki does something to help Kyle get their happily ever after, and Victoria is on board with it too. Victor will likely accuse all of them of betrayal, hot on the heels of him accusing Michael Baldwin (Christian Leblanc) of not being loyal. He pushed back on Victor and met with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) behind his back after Victor screamed at him.

Young and the Restless: Victor’s Turn?

So there’s a chance Michael could actually turn his back because Victor is going too far. Nikki Newman has asked Victor to dial it back, but he refused. Michael has asked, but he refused. So after all this, it could be that trying to destroy Jack and Kyle and Billy, that, you know, several, possibly many, of Victor’s family, friends.

And allies may turn on him, not in hatred, but in trying to force, I don’t know, some behavioral intervention by turning away from him. We’ll see. Sweeps may prove to be a very trying time for Nikki. We may soon see Victor getting a little taste of his own medicine.

Billy Flynn’s Arrival: Is He Mystery Man Dumas, Victor Newman’s Nemesis?

All right, and that ties into the final storyline we want to talk about. Billy Flynn is set to debut soon. The actor, of course, they hired him away from Days of Our Lives and he is amazing. You guys are going to love him. And with Dumas’ name popping up in every single episode and Billy Flynn’s arrival coming soon, well, it seems like it’s an overlap, that it’s the same thing. We’ll have to wait a few more weeks to see if he is mystery man Dumas, who’s a nemesis of Victor.

I have heard some people saying in comments here, soap social media, that Billy Flynn’s too young to play a rival of his, but two things: we don’t know how long Victor has been bickering with Dumas and his rival. Second, headwriter Josh Griffith is inventing backstory, he’s inventing history, so he’s going to take whatever artistic license, whatever latitude he needs, and Josh Griffith never lets facts stand in the way of what he wants to write.

So I am wondering if Dumas’ arrival, whether or not he is played by Billy Flynn, could unite Victor’s enemies. Plus, of course, that’s not his real name. We did a video recently discussing whether Billy Flynn may be played by Brooks Prentiss, so someone who is roughly the same age and with a big grudge against Victor.

You never know. Billy Flynn’s character could start conspiring with Kyle and Jack and Billy and others because they all have issues with The Mustache. Heck, the real karma that Victor faces may come with the arrival of this mystery man.
