What the Heck Happened to General Hospital’s Lucky — and Why Does the Recast Look So Familiar?

If you missed this breaking news on February 17, you were in for quite a surprise when you tuned into General Hospital on February 18: Jonathan Jackson wasn’t playing Lucky Spencer!
What the heck happened? The five-time Emmy winner was off for several episodes, Soap Opera Digest reported, but would be back on screen before the end of the month. Since his 1993 debut as Luke and Laura’s son, Jackson has been “permanently” recast twice, with Jacob Young (ex-Rick, Bold & Beautiful) and Greg Vaughan (ex-Eric, Days of Our Lives).
So who’s the new guy this time, then — and why does he look so darn familiar? That’s Guy Wilson, who you may recognize from his 2014-15 stint on Days of Our Lives. In fact, it was after he took over the role of Will Horton from Chandler Massey that the character married longtime love Sonny Kiriakis and met his maker at the hand of the Necktie Killer. (That murder was later unmade when Massey came back to Salem and resurrected Will.)

Besides Days of Our Lives, Wilson also guest-starred on General Hospital in 2006 as a teenage version of Lucky’s dad, Luke, who along with sometime wife Tracy Quartermaine was imagining what would have transpired if they’d met in their younger years. You might also know him from his appearances on Castle, NCIS, Bones, Breaking Bad, Rizzoli & Isles or Bosch: Legacy.
