The Brown family has been all over the place lately, emotionally and physically. Between back-to-back splits, shifting loyalties, and Kody trying to mend fences with his older kids, Sister Wives has been riding an intense wave for a while.
But just when you think it’s all tension and heartbreak, a brand-new development arrives, and this one feels refreshingly different. Let’s just say a Brown family member quietly stole the spotlight in the best way possible.
Sister Wives: Kody’s Trying to Reconnect, But It’s Complicated
On a recent episode, Kody spoke about a fairly cringeworthy moment with Aspyn, his daughter with former Christine. Apparently, Aspyn flat-out asked him why he didn’t seem to like her. That’s a big question, and one that obviously unsettled him. He explained to her that he did love her, always had, and always would… but things between them had been weird for a while.
He said that after the breakup with Christine (and Janelle and Meri as well), he sort of got iced out by a lot of his older kids. The celeb told us he needed a relationship with Aspyn that was not tainted by his exes or old drama. In short, he didn’t want his relationship with her to be complicated by her mom’s opinions of him or her own.
Aspyn, he said, told him she’d never meant to make him feel unwelcome. That conversation, according to Kody, helped “improve” where they stood. Still, it’s unclear how deep that reconnection went. Or how much he knows about what’s happening in her life.
Sister Wives: Surprise Pregnancy REVEAL!
As it turned out, Aspyn had some pretty significant news of her own, and she didn’t even require a TLC confessional to do so. On April 30, she appeared in a Fox 13 News feature on Mother’s Day gift ideas. She represents the Kendra Scott shop she oversees in Utah. However, Sister Wives’ viewers were more concerned with the bump than the jewelry.
The anchor noted how “appropriate” it was to have Aspyn on TV while pregnant with her first child. Aspyn simply smiled and nodded, just a relaxed “yep, that’s what’s going on” vibe, wearing an adorable blue-and-white sundress that perfectly flaunted her baby bump.
It will be Aspyn’s first child and that of her husband, Mitch Thompson. She married in 2018 at a wedding of Sister Wives. At the time, Kody referred to his daughter as “beautiful” and “lovely,” although their relationship has certainly taken some rough patches since. There is no update on when Aspyn is having her baby, but this baby will be Kody’s grandchild #8.
Maddie (his daughter with Janelle) has four children, and Mykelti (his daughter with Christine) has three, including the twin boys she had in 2022. Now, the question is, did Kody have a clue about this prior to the TV appearance? No idea. Let’s not forget that he admitted once he hadn’t even realized Maddie was pregnant again until he saw her at a wedding. So, if he only figured it out along with the rest of us, it’s not really that surprising.
Either way, it’s the type of news Sister Wives viewers love to hear. A new baby is coming; for real, it’s the feel-good moment this family desperately needed.
