General Hospital shows Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) desperate because he thinks that his son, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), is about to be accused of attempted murder. He needs an alternate suspect, and Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is already a thorn in Sonny’s side.
But Sidwell’s son, Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo), is going to be a problem for Sonny soon. We’re going to talk about how Sonny may frame Sidwell for shooting Drew Cain Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison), but he doesn’t know that Marco is already targeting him.
Sonny Corinthos’ Plan to Protect Michael Corinthos from Attempted Murder Charges on General Hospital
This week, Sonny was ranting at Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), understandably because she threw suspicion all over Michael in court trying to win Willow Tait‘s (Katelyn MacMullen) attempted murder case. And of course, Alexis knows that Willow is guilty, but she’s afraid to lose Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante).
So, Alexis threw Michael under the bus with both hands and Sonny’s ticked. But Alexis said, “You know, the DA might not even pursue Michael,” but Sonny knows better. DA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) will not miss a chance to come for him or his loved one. So, Sonny thinks the best approach is to find somebody to take the fall for shooting Drew.
What’s ironic really, Sonny doesn’t think that Willow is guilty, and he has insisted all along she’s not capable of shooting Drew. Now, to her credit, Alexis bit her tongue and didn’t set Sonny straight and tell him that Willow is guilty. Plus, that probably would have made Sonny even angrier and harder to deal with.
So, he thinks if they throw an alternate suspect to the cops, you know, acting commish Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and DA Justine Turner, it’ll take the heat off Michael. And of course, Dante would probably jump at an alternate suspect to keep from investigating Michael.
Why Jenz Sidwell is the Perfect Target for a General Hospital Frame Job
Although Alexis apologized to Sonny for throwing Michael to the wolves, she also said she’s got to make Scout her priority. And for many reasons, I don’t think Alexis will be part of any frame job that Sonny cooks up. As a matter of fact, he should not tell Alexis and not tell Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy). The bottom line is that plotting a future crime and telling your lawyer is not something that your attorney can keep hidden under privilege, only past crimes.
So, Sonny’s about to start noodling on how to protect Michael. And let’s be real, even if Sonny thought that Michael really did shoot Drew in the back two times, Sonny would still be considering the same thing, framing somebody else so that Michael could go free. And since Sidwell is blackmailing Sonny and Laura Spencer (Genie Francis), framing him would take care of several problems.
So, it’s really Sonny’s best bet. And if he does the frame job right, Sidwell won’t know that Sonny did it, and those blackmail photos he’s got may not come into play. Plus, if Sonny has Sidwell trying to dodge police heat over Drew shooting, well, that could buy him and Laura some time to find the photos and destroy all of them and get rid of the leverage.
Laura Spencer’s Dangerous Alliance and 2026 GH Spoilers
So, this is a classic two birds, one stone solution for Sonny. And if it works out, Sidwell either goes to prison for trying to kill Drew or he goes on the run out of Port Charles to avoid going to prison. And that would get Sonny and Laura out from under Sidwell’s thumb.
Plus, that way, Michael won’t go down for a crime he didn’t commit. It’s kind of great. And I could see Laura on board with this and willing to plot with Sonny. She may agree with him that it’s the best approach. It’ll get rid of violent psycho Sidwell. It’ll get rid of the threats against them.
Plus, there are some 2026 General Hospital spoilers that may tie to Laura and Sonny targeting Sidwell this way. First, there’s one saying that Laura goes to extremes to protect Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) and Ace Cassadine (Kieran and Karis Barry).
And yes, Laura sent Ace and Kevin to Ireland, but that’s not a permanent solution. So, the extremes that Laura goes to may extend to not just exiting them temporarily, but to Laura plotting a frame job with Sonny to put the interest onto Sidwell.
Marco Rios Snaps: Revenge for Natalia Rogers-Ramirez and the Threat to Sonny Corinthos
Another spoiler says that Marco’s hatred for Sonny grows and may put his relationship with Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) at risk. And that means Marco does something pretty bad. I mean, Lucas doesn’t even like Sonny. So, for whatever Marco does to risk their future, it must be pretty heinous.
And another spoiler says that Sidwell’s irritated when Marco colors outside the lines to make Sonny pay and basically ignores his dad Sidwell’s orders. And if you remember, Marco is so upset because Sidwell hasn’t taken Sonny down or killed him.
Marco absolutely blames Sonny for his mom Natalia Rogers-Ramirez’s (Eva LaRue) death. Marco is still furious at Natalia’s suicide/overdose death, and he thinks Sonny is behind it. So, if Marco thinks that Sonny is coming for Sidwell, the one parent that he’s got left, that could make Marco snap and take drastic action.
I mean, Sidwell is honestly the best option for Sonny and Laura to use for this frame job for Drew’s shooting. We pretty much know Sidwell killed Judge Herran, so she couldn’t reveal that he bribed her to rule against Willow and keep the kids from her. The judge’s body popped up in the water at the pier right across from Wyndermere. Plus, he pretty much admitted it to Marco.
The Judge Herran Mystery and the Connection to Drew’s Shooting on General Hospital
And if you recall, Sonny then had Brick (Stephen A. Smith) cook up fake wire info to put in Drew’s safe to blame him and frame him for bribing the judge. So, there’s already framing going on in the Sidwell and Drew space.
And if Sonny realizes that it was Sidwell who initially bribed the judge, that could get thrown into the mix to set up Sidwell to go down for multiple crimes. All of them happen to tie back to Drew as well, which would make the congressman look guilty by association, which is another win for everybody who hates him.
So Sonny could paint a picture of a congressman under Sidwell’s influence. And then Sonny makes it look like Sidwell killed the judge as a favor to Drew for ruling against Willow. And then from there, Drew was being problematic. So Sidwell tried to kill his pet politician.
I mean, Sidwell’s pretty much told Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) that if Drew is implicated in the Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) extortion scheme, he’s no longer of use to him. And Laura knows what happens to people who are no use to Sidwell anymore because Hank Dalton (Daniel Goddard) wound up dead in her trunk.
And Laura and Sonny know that Sidwell did that killing. They don’t know all the details of why he did it, what his full motive is for slaying Dalton, but obviously he did it and dumped the corpse in her trunk.
The WSB Connection and Jordan Ashford’s Undercover Mission on GH
But Jordan’s keeping tabs on Sidwell and she’s bringing back info to Laura and may explain that Sidwell may want to get rid of Drew. And if Sidwell’s framed, Jordan could testify against him. You know, the whole reason she’s even working for Sidwell is to expose and take him down.
Jordan’s basically undercover. So Sonny and Laura could paint a target on Sidwell for Drew shooting and Jordan may help. But what Sonny, Laura, and Jordan don’t know is Sidwell’s involved with the WSB at the highest level. Director Callum (Andrew Hawkes) is scheming with Sidwell to complete Cesar Faison’s (Anders Hove) final research.
So, even if Sonny and Laura do a perfect frame job on Sidwell, it could still fail because the WSB director might clean it up. So, that’ll be an issue if Sonny chooses Sidwell as the target of his frame job, which to me seems like the likeliest candidate. Plus, Marco will be an issue because he already hates Sonny and wants to kill him.
And we suspect Willow’s going to get a not-guilty verdict. Because another 2026 spoiler says Sonny is working Justine when she investigates one of his loved ones. And Michael is the one likely to be on Justine’s radar. And that means Willow’s probably exonerated in court to set all that in motion.
So, watch to see where Sonny goes from here. He’s probably going to wait till the verdict comes in. And if it’s a not guilty for Willow, which seems likely, Sonny will need to find an alternate suspect right away to throw to the PCPD and it could be Sidwell and then Marco will absolutely lose it.
