General Hospital puts Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) and Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) have been spending a lot more time together lately, and they’ve been getting closer. But that seems strange given that Lulu is Maxie Jones‘ (Kirsten Storms) best friend and Nathan is her soulmate.
We’re going to talk about why he’s been getting so close to Lulu and why it might be somebody wearing Nathan’s face who’s obsessed with Lulu that’s really inside him. And also, we’re going to talk about who it might be.
General Hospital: Nathan West’s Mysterious Return to Port Charles and the PCPD
So, you may recall last week Nathan and Lulu had a moment on New Year’s Eve. That was when Nathan was over at Lulu’s house keeping an eye out for Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) in his role working for the PCPD.
But also from the moment Nathan returned to General Hospital, something seemed off about him. He claims to not remember anything from these seven years, but he was driving a stolen vehicle and he crashed it. If you remember, Lulu was the one who found him that night.
Even though she didn’t get a good look at the driver, she didn’t realize it was Nathan, she just called 911 to get help. So, aside from the amnesia and the seven missing years, it’s bizarre that Nathan is getting closer to Lulu. And that’s one more red flag that something is up with Nathan.
The Surprising Romantic Sparks Between Nathan West and Lulu Spencer on GH
He legit seems interested in Lulu. And it felt like a definite shift for Nathan and Lulu as 2026 began. And that was when Nathan and Lulu were realizing just how much they have in common. They had a really deep conversation about both of them coming back from the dead.
And Nathan and Lulu were talking about Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) and Maxie. They bonded over losing years of their lives. And then Nathan told Lulu that she has him and she said that he has her. They are there for each other. And there were definitely sparks flying.
Lulu & Nathan’s Past on General Hospital
And of course, Nathan and Lulu were friends in the past. That was when Nathan was married to Maxie and he was Dante’s bestie. And Lulu was with Dante and she was Maxie’s bestie and still is. But Dante’s not with Lulu.
And Maxie was with Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) when she fell into the coma that Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) caused. So, Dante has also since then put Lulu firmly in the co-parent zone. He was still mourning Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) loss, but also Lulu had just irritated him.
And so Dante flat out told Lulu he didn’t want to be with her and she got angry and lashed back out at him and she was crushed. But she’s gotten past it and now she and Dante are strictly co-parents and friends. And now she and Nathan seem to be sparking.
General Hospital 2026 Spoilers: Searching for Charlotte Cassadine
So, in 2026 General Hospital official spoilers, Lulu and Nathan go chasing after Charlotte when she slips away from the police that are watching her to try and make sure Valentin doesn’t get to her. So, Lulu and Nathan go looking for Charlotte and they find themselves in each other’s arms along the way.
What’s also strange is Nathan doesn’t seem all that concerned about Maxie. I mean, he’s mentioned her here and there, most recently with Lulu, and Nathan did say he’s concerned Maxie might not want the life they had before he was presumed dead and killed.
Nathan claims that he’s worried Maxie might stay with Spinelli, but that could be Nathan just paying lip service and saying what’s required, what people expect him to say. Because other than that, Nathan hasn’t said much about Maxie and that I can recall Nathan has not visited Maxie at the long-term care facility.
Nathan West’s Distant Behavior Toward James West and Maxie Jones
All that is strange. Plus, it doesn’t seem like Nathan sees James much. It didn’t take much for Nathan to agree to let James stay with Spinelli. Here and there, Nathan has done little things like he handed James that Christmas gift, but to be honest, I think Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) sees James more than Nathan does.
He said he wanted his job back at the PCPD so he could get a place to live for him and James. And Nathan got his job back, but I don’t see him moving James in with him or inviting the kid over to his place.
It looks like Nathan is just working and spending time with Lulu. And of course, Nathan has been at her house for PCPD reasons because Valentin’s on the loose. But because of the recent shift between Nathan and Lulu, it makes me wonder if there’s more to it.
Is a Villain Wearing a Nathan West Skin Suit?
It seems bizarre Nathan would have any romantic interest in Lulu given their past. And I don’t think the real Nathan would. But I also wonder if there’s somebody else living in his head. Nathan may be like a shell and somebody else is controlling his mind right now.
At first I suspected it might be his brother Peter August (Wes Ramsey) in his head, but you know it was Maxie that Peter was obsessed with. So the Lulu thing doesn’t make sense if it was Peter. Unless of course it’s about Dante because he did try to kill Peter while he was brainwashed by the WSB. But I feel like it’s more about Lulu and maybe somebody who’s into her.
The Theory of Stavros Cassadine’s Obsession with the Ice Princess
So, that got me thinking who might be wearing the Nathan-looking skin suit who would be obsessed with Lulu and trying to get with her. And the first person that popped into my head even though he’s dead—but dead doesn’t mean a lot on soaps—is Stavros Cassadine.
He was all into Lulu back in the day. Stavros was obsessed with Lulu. He wanted to marry her and make babies. And Stavros saw Lulu as basically Laura Spencer 2.0 because Stavros had previously been obsessed with Lulu’s mom.
And Stavros kidnapped Lulu. He put her in a cryogenic chamber to keep her young forever. And he called her his ice princess. He was crazy. Stavros even married Lulu, but that was invalidated because Stavros forced Lulu to say, “I do.”
Could Faison Be Controlling Nathan on General Hospital?
So yes, I know Stavros is supposedly dead, but Cassadines are notoriously hard to kill. It could also be Nathan’s dad, Cesar Faison (Anders Hove), in his head, and he might be trying to get Lulu to fall for Nathan, cuz in Cesar’s sick and twisted mind, he may think keeping Nathan away from Maxie is the right thing to do because she moved on with Spinelli.
But also, Faison had a long history with Lulu’s dad, Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary). And at one point, Faison and Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) kidnapped Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) and Faison brainwashed him to turn him against the Spencers. So, this could be tied into some old Faison versus Luke grudge.
General Hospital: Uncle Cyrus Obsessed with Lulu?
But if it is somebody with a connection to Lulu, my top suspicion also on the list is Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober). I mean, it’d be super creepy if it were him cuz Lulu is his niece, but Cyrus is a creep and he planned to kidnap Lulu when she was still comatose.
So, who knows what that icky Cyrus had planned. At one point, if you remember, he wanted to sneak her, he was basically trying to steal her, out of Turning Woods and take her to South Carolina without telling the family.
So, and I know Cyrus is supposed to be dead, but he might have cheated death and he’s the one controlling the Nathan skin suit, but also the WSB took Cyrus’s body. So, that is another way to explain how he might have survived.
The Trauma Bond Between Two Port Charles Survivors
And of course, it could be the real Nathan, but he’s scarred by trauma and whatever happened to him during these seven missing years. That may be why he’s avoiding Maxie and getting closer to Lulu.
And in fact, Nathan and Lulu’s trauma bond might just be what we’re seeing manifest now. And once Maxie wakes up and Nathan sees her, things could change. We’ll see how it plays out. But I feel like at least for now, that’s not really Nathan in his head, or maybe not just Nathan in his head.
