General Hospital: Drew Really Dead? Willow Strikes Again!

General Hospital reveals that on the heels of Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) being found not guilty of shooting and trying to kill her husband, Drew Cain Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison), she went and did it again. Willow jammed a syringe into Drew’s neck after they toasted to their future.
So, is he dying for real this time? We’re going to discuss whether or not Drew is dead meat after Willow made another attempt on his life—or what seems to be an attempt. When Drew turns up in a medical crisis, the question is, will Willow get away with it again?
I know one thing: a pile of fans would cheer if Drew drops dead from whatever Willow injected him with. I see comments on soap social media and here on the videos all the time where people are upset that Drew didn’t already die when she shot him. And they wished Willow had aimed better.

Willow Acquitted of Shooting Drew Before Attempting Murder Again on General Hospital
This week saw an incredible turn of events. Despite Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) deliberately trying to ruin her closing argument so Willow would be convicted, the jury acquitted her. Now DA Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) wants Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) to build a case against Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson). The moment the jury foreman read the verdict, Willow officially got away with the shooting.
Then she went home with Drew and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) brought in some champagne to celebrate. But Drew sent Nina away, something I bet he regretted as he collapsed to the living room floor. It’s crazy that Willow didn’t even wait a day before plunging a syringe into her awful husband Drew’s neck. But maybe it’s crazy smart.
As he was laying there on the floor about to lose consciousness, Willow eerily told Drew, “Everything will work out.” And then Willow said, “You’ll see.” Those were the same exact words Drew spoke to the photo on his mantle of the two of them when he had gotten her engagement ring out of the safe. He said them just before Willow put two bullets in his back. So, it was a really nice callback.
General Hospital Spoilers: Lucas Jones and Elizabeth Webber React to a Medical Crisis at GH
Some General Hospital spoilers for this week hint that GH fans may get their wish and Drew may die. On Tuesday’s episode, we’ve got Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) springing into action, which sounds like a medical crisis at GH. Obviously, Willow’s going to call 911. She has to so she doesn’t look guilty of whatever this is.
Then, on Wednesday’s episode, Lucas delivers devastating news that points to a medical crisis that didn’t turn out very well for the victim. I suspect what Willow drugged Drew with either kills him or puts him into a coma. Because of that devastating part of the spoiler.
Of course, if Willow kills him or puts Drew into a long-term coma, she would obviously pretend that she’s devastated. But I bet Willow will only be devastated if Drew survives when she was trying again to kill him.
A Calculated General Hospital Hospital Nurse: Willow Uses Her Medical Training for a Deadly Plan
Consider this: Willow’s a nurse. She has knowledge about medications and access to a whole bunch of different kinds of drugs. Now, if I recall correctly, she’s not working at the hospital at the moment. Because of the trial. But just like she snuck into the Quartermaine Mansion to steal the gun, she could have snuck into General Hospital to steal the drug she needed.
For a while, it looked like Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) was the bad twin. But now we are seeing a very calculated, devious, and dangerous side of Willow. This seems like her second premeditated murder attempt. If she was intending to kill Drew, it could be that the drug Willow gave Drew caused him to have a heart attack.
I did a little research on what kind of drug would kill somebody and be hard to trace in a toxicology test or an autopsy. She can’t use digitalis. Because Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) went around killing people with that. And they’re probably testing that on anybody that dies at General Hospital. If I was one of the chiefs of staff dealing with it, I would be very suspicious.
How Willow Could Use Potassium Chloride to Mimic a Heart Attack
However, Willow might have injected Drew Cain Quartermaine with high-dose potassium chloride. It can cause an immediate cardiac arrhythmia and it would look like a sudden onset heart attack. And it’s not locked up that tight at the hospital. Potassium chloride is stored on crash carts. It’s a common drug that they put in low doses in IVs.
So, it’s not something that would be kept under crazy lock and key like serious painkillers, opioids, or narcotics. It’s usually administered in low doses. But a high dose injected fast into an IV or a neck vein, like Willow did to Drew, can absolutely be fatal. After injection, it takes about a minute for the victim to collapse and it mimics a believable but massive heart attack. That’s exactly what we saw. Willow injected him and Drew was down and out in about a minute.
I also looked up whether there can be delayed cardiac issues after a near-fatal shooting like Drew’s—something where Willow can call 911 and make the whole heart attack thing seem plausible. My research showed that in a shooting like his, scar tissue could make Drew more prone to cardiac problems.

GH Shocker: Could Drew’s Death Be Blamed on Previous Trauma?
They may write off what Willow drugged him with to lingering heart strain from all of Drew’s blood loss from the shooting or the surgery that saved his life. It could be leftover complications. Trauma patients have a higher risk of sudden cardiac events months after the fact.
So, Willow could avoid suspicion and Drew’s death could be explained by scar tissue or things from the shooting itself. My research also showed that there have been real-life potassium chloride death cases. There was a nurse serial killer who used that same drug to kill patients. She went undetected for a while. Because they thought her victims were suffering natural heart attacks. Because your body’s potassium chloride levels go up naturally after you die. That’s something Willow would know with her medical training.
There’s another drug called succinylcholine. It’s harder to spell and very hard to say. Willow might have used it as it causes total paralysis and asphyxiation that leads to cardiac arrest. If she used that drug on Drew, it would also cause a sudden collapse, a heart attack, or could result in a coma. That drug is also very hard to detect in an autopsy. Because it breaks down in the body really fast.
Will Michael Corinthos Face Murder Charges if Drew Dies on General Hospital?
While fans would probably cheer if Willow really did kill Drew this time, I tend to suspect he may survive like a cockroach does even in nuclear war. He may survive whatever Willow drugged him with but wind up in a coma. We know that Cameron Mathison could need time off to film Christmas movies; he does them every year for Great American Family.
If Cameron Mathison needed time off, they could have had Willow drug him so he could be off-screen for a bit. Then again, GH may be giving fans what they really want—a late Christmas present—and they may kill Drew. I think Willow could get away with it. Because it’d be crazy for her to try again to kill Drew right after she was acquitted. She may hope that it’s so obvious that it’s overlooked.
What’s even wilder is if it looks like a heart attack that the doctors decide is due to the trauma of the shooting, that could be bad. Because Michael is under investigation now from the PCPD. There have been cases where somebody is shot but they live. And the shooter is charged with attempted murder. But then they end up dying later as a result of injuries from the shooting and the charges get upgraded to murder one.
So Willow may get away with it. But Michael is on the PCPD’s radar now. If she does kill Drew, that could put Michael in a much more precarious position. I guess we’ll know by Wednesday if Drew really does kick the bucket. If he does, we’ll have a lot of soap fans celebrating and plenty of people in Port Charles saying, “Oh well, too bad. Guess it’s karma.”
