Rafe is finally back where he belongs on Days of Our Lives — in Jada’s arms! He may have been suffering total memory loss after being overdosed by Dr. Rolf’s memory wiping serum, but his life and his love for Jada all came flooding back while she was interrogating him. That was a bit too convenient, but once the Salem PD ran his prints and confirmed he is, indeed, the real Rafe, Jada ran straight into his arms.
Elia Cantu spoke with Soaps.com about the whole Rafe/Arnold switch mess, readily admitting that Jada is very much upset with herself for not figuring out Rafe had been replaced sooner.
“Oh yes, you know she is,” Cantu says. “When it comes to her job, she likes to be on point. The fact that she had no idea that this man she was kissing on New Year’s Eve, and hugging on, and being called ‘Baby cakes’… She thought he was trying to spice things up!”
But even then, Jada could tell something was off, and that just makes it all worse. “She just didn’t trust her intuition,” Cantu sighs. “She was just believing what she wanted to believe. Or seeing what she wanted to see since she was about to get married. But yeah, she’s totally kicking herself now.”
Still, it’s not like Jada’s been in town all that long, nor has she experienced most of Salem’s insanity. Devil possession, computer chip mind transplants, brainwashing, doppelgangers — it’s all still pretty new to her.
“It’s not like she knew Arnold before,” Jada’s portrayer points out, “unlike Stephanie, who obviously had a bad encounter with him in the past, and a few others. To Jada, this is all news to her, so she wasn’t able to refer to anything.”
She even said it when Stephanie finally filled her in: If she’d known Arnold existed, she would have figured this out a whole lot faster! Ah well, at least now Rafe has his memories back and he and Jada have reunited and declared their eternal love for each other. That doesn’t mean it’s over, though. Because Rafe hasn’t gotten all of his memories back, handily, forgetting everything after running into Arnold. There’s nothing about Rita or the Blake house or EJ. And that’s a problem.
When asked how angry she is at EJ right now, Cantu doesn’t hesitate in her reply. “Oh God, it’s off the chart,” she exclaims. “Like off the chart! Because she doesn’t really have proof yet [that EJ orchestrated all this]. But at this point, she’s not a dummy. She’s gotta know. She’s gonna get proof, but she’s very upset, absolutely. I mean, he destroyed her life!”
But when asked if Jada might be willing to at least bend the law a bit to make EJ pay or if she’ll work to do it by the book, Cantu just laughed. “You’re gonna see that! But you’ve gotta watch!”
Well, so much for hoping to narrow down the list of suspects for who ends up shooting EJ! Gabi came awfully close to pulling the trigger, and we won’t put it past her to actually try taking him out. We guess we can’t eliminate Jada from that column just yet either.
She’s hurt, embarrassed and furious. Yes, she got Rafe back, but there’s still all that “evidence” EJ fabricated to boot her from the police force. As she’s made clear the entire time she’s been pushing to find Rafe and confront EJ, she’s not a cop anymore. She doesn’t have to follow the law’s restrictions.
