Days of Our Lives sees EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord) have hit the ground running with a business dinner date after her first day as his assistant. That is happening at the same time she is starting to heat up with Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn), too.
We’re going to talk about EJ and Cat and Chad and Cat, and whether there’s some triangle action cooking and if EJ may try and do a repeat plot and steal a woman from his brother Chad.
EJ DiMera’s Ulterior Motives: Is He Stealing Cat Greene from Chad?
EJ and Cat seem to be getting along at the office and outside of the office as well. He is one of the few people in Salem who doesn’t mind that Cat pretended to be his late sister-in-law, Abigail DiMera (AnnaLynne McCord). In fact, EJ told Cat he thought it was a pretty good con. He has done worse, we know that.
Of course, things will be easier if EJ has a solid working relationship with Cat since he hired her at the hospital. But EJ may actually have ulterior motives regarding Cat. It could be that he’s trying to steal her away from Chad.
EJ may also suspect that Cat is doing something sneaky after Gwen Rizczech (Emily O’Brien) saw her poking around his office, looking at the plans for the Dr. Tom Horton (Zach Chyz) Free Clinic.
This clinic is going to be the cover for a sketchy new science center that may have Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton) working there. We’ll see. What’s funny is Cat is doing something sneaky. It’s just not what EJ assumes is happening.
The Strong Brotherly Bond: Chad DiMera’s Loyalty to EJ
Meanwhile, Chad and EJ are pretty close as brothers. In fact, it was Chad who found EJ after Rachel Black (Alice Halsey) shot him this summer, and he administered life-saving first aid until the paramedics arrived on the scene. If not for Chad, EJ might have died bleeding out on the carpet at the mansion.
Chad was worried sick about EJ throughout the whole shooting and coma ordeal. Chad was also supportive of EJ during Johnny DiMera’s (Carson Boatman) trial and then Kristen DiMera’s (Stacy Haiduk) recent arrest drama. We’ve seen a lot of unity among the brothers, even though they are very different people.
Cat and Chad’s Budding Romance: EJ DiMera’s Past Interest Revealed
While all this is going on, Cat and Chad are getting closer. They have been kissing lately, and sparks are definitely flying. If you remember this summer, fresh out of his coma, EJ bid a lot of money to score a date with Cat in the hospital bachelorette fundraiser auction. Back then, EJ had decided to give the date to his brother Chad because he suspected that Chad liked her, but he was kind of denying it.
Now, Cat and Chad are tentatively stepping towards a romantic relationship. EJ, at the same time, is on the rebound from his messy and public breakup with Belle Black (Martha Madison). EJ just confessed at their dinner that he initially bid for that date with Cat because he did want to take her out.
Hospital Chaos: EJ’s Management and Cat & Chad’s Near Disaster
Not only did EJ win a date with Cat, but he also won the bid to purchase the struggling hospital. Since then, he and his minion Rita are making all these budget cuts. It’s ticking off Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans), Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey), and a bunch of other hospital employees. Who in their right mind takes fresh fruits and veggies out of a hospital cafeteria?
Plus, EJ’s lack of urgency to get that broken elevator fixed and maintained could have ended in disaster for Cat and Chad on Days of our Lives. Who knows how long Cat and Chad would have been trapped in that elevator if it wasn’t for worried family members who tracked them down and basically arranged their rescue?
Undercover Agent Cat Greene: Unraveling EJ’s Financial Secrets
When Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) decided to take an extended leave of absence, Cat was out of work. She needed another job at the hospital to keep poking around. She did like working for Marlena, but she really needed a hospital job as her ISA agent cover because Cat has secretly been investigating EJ’s finances.
The closer Cat is to EJ, the better. Nobody knows her dual role aside from Director Shane Donovan (Charles Shaughnessy) and her FBI contact, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering). Cat just started working as EJ’s assistant very recently.
So, did EJ invite Cat out to dinner because he has the hots for her, or because he is suspicious of Cat? Maybe a little of both, knowing EJ. Either way, we have heard that Chad, Cat, and EJ may be fully triangling in a little love thing by November.
The Days of Our Lives Love Triangle: Chad, Cat, and EJ’s Entangled Future
In a photo shoot for the 60th anniversary episodes, they had Chad, Cat, and EJ, which of course is Billy Flynn, AnnaLynne McCord, and Dan Feuerriegel. They were doing promo photos together. That’s a huge hint because you do those photos with people you’re all in a storyline, and it definitely has a triangle sort of feel to it.
This is a huge hint that those three are tangled up by late fall, and they are laying the groundwork for it now. It could start with EJ digging for dirt on Cat and her digging dirt on EJ, and then maybe Cat and EJ are digging one another.
At the same time, Chad does seem to be getting closer to falling for Cat, or at least opening up to the possibility of it. The question is, would EJ stoop so low as to try and steal Cat’s affections away from Chad?
It wouldn’t be the first time that EJ tried to steal a woman from Chad. Years ago, EJ got friendly with Abigail when Chad was faking a brain tumor to try and get her to pay attention to him. EJ and Abby were into each other for a while back then. Since then, EJ has apologized, but he might do it again.
I do suspect that Cat really likes Chad, but she may be drawn to EJ. He’s gorgeous, powerful, and a lot of fun. Those dimples, don’t get me started! If Cat does like EJ, that might take her by surprise. We’ll see how that works out.
Unraveling the Mystery: Cat Greene and Sami Brady’s Hidden Connection
For months, spoilers have also hinted that Cat and Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) have some connection that hasn’t been explored yet. When Cat was visiting Marlena’s townhouse, she saw a photo of Sami and said she looked familiar but couldn’t place where she saw her.
What I do wonder is if you remember, Cat was in a rehabilitation center in Europe from facial reconstruction surgery, and EJ was in a clinic over in Europe, and Sami was at his side. It could be that Cat and EJ were in the same facility at some point in time. That would be an interesting side twist. They do think there is some familiarity there beyond just Cat pretending to be Abigail and infiltrating the DiMera family.
Revenge Triangle: EJ, Cat, and Chad vs. Clyde Weston
EJ, Cat, and Chad all have a bone to pick with Clyde Weston (James Read), who remains in a coma. That could be something else that pulls them together. If EJ isn’t trying to find out what Cat is up to by poking around in the plans, or if EJ is not trying to steal her from Chad.
If it’s not a romantic triangle, maybe it’s a revenge triangle. They are coming after Clyde once that bad man wakes up from his coma. We’ll see who is playing whom, if EJ is suspicious of Cat or into Cat, or maybe it’s both, and vice versa, and how Chad will play into all of it.
