Those watching the August 7 episode of Days of Our Lives were left stunned — or maybe you weren’t — due to EJ’s latest stunt in court. Though he and Belle had shared a little love in the afternoon prior to facing off yet again, when court was called to session, he ended up throwing her under the bus — instead of the sheets — and asked the judge to declare an immediate mistrial.

Of course, we had to rush to our Facebook page to ask readers, “What EJ did to Belle in court was…” and boy did fans have their opinions…

Near the bench in court, EJ turns back to Belle who glares from behind the prosecution table.

While many agreed, like Donna Warren Weidlich pointed out, “Not surprising at all. It is what he does,” others placed the blame on Belle for not knowing better and some plain felt sorry for her. So, let’s take a look at which side of the fence some of you stood on…

Team EJ

“Loved it,” Sulema Renae stated. “Hats off to EJ!” as Kelly Kucharski thought it was “justifiable. Belle introduced and brought up the rape situation of Sami to explain why Johnny might have motive. I don’t blame EJ one bit for what he said about Belle and getting Johnny to testify about their relationship.” And Vicki Taylor Grigston called EJ “brilliant” then shared, “As for Belle, if you sleep with a snake you should be prepared to get bitten. She should step down as DA and go back to non-criminal cases.”

Team Belle

“Belle is too sweet for EJ,” said Jessica Gardner. “He needs to be with someone who is manipulative and sneaky, much like Sami. I wish they would explore the EJ/Gabi pairing more. They are more suited to be together.” Kim O’Brien thought the whole scene was just “ridiculous” and added, “I hope she is done with him for good!” And Mary Ellen Colley Linkous simply posted, “He did her wrong.”

In the end, the judge called EJ a hypocrite (wouldn’t be the first time he’s heard this!) and since he had waved his right to any objections over the other conflicts of interest, she ordered him to stop the theatrics and denied his motion. As for Belle, she finally had enough and not only told the judge their relationship wouldn’t be a conflict anymore, and deemed it over, once alone, she made it very clear to EJ and snapped, “We. Are. Done. You are dead to me EJ DiMera!”
