On today’s Days of Our Lives, Tate visits Sophia at the bistro to check if her mom was still upset. And when Sophia asks if he shouldn’t be with his girlfriend, he admits they aren’t talking right now. They fought about Doug and how she’s spending all her time with him. Tate thinks briefly about telling Sophia about the necklace snatching, but sticks by his promise not to.
He just doesn’t want Holly to get caught in Doug’s mess. Sophia seems a bit excited to have Tate dump all his problems on her and is sufficiently empathetic over Grandpa John vanishing — complete with a hug that gets them staring into each other’s eyes. Amy calls to tell Sophia about how well the meeting with Paulina went. There’s adoption hope again!
But Sophia cautions about getting too excited, because there’s still EJ. She gets back to work, and Tate offers to stay and help clean up — and hang with her. He’s worried about her working too hard. They both want each other to be happy.
Doug Convinces Holly Not to Commit Theft
Doug answers the door to Holly, shirtless, in the middle of a workout. They head into the living room to put a shirt on and Holly tells him she’s got a plan about the necklace. All they have to do is break into Melinda’s apartment and steal it back! Easy peasy. She doesn’t own it legally, so it’s no big deal.

Then Holly goes off on how much she hates Melinda over the whole Jude thing, which Doug kind of enjoys. But they aren’t breaking in. He will handle his mess, and she’s not going down for it. But her idea was “pretty badass.” Doug thanks her and they both say they care about each other. So they break out some leftovers to talk next moves — after Doug takes a shower.
EJ and Belle Reconnect — Literally
EJ shows up at Belle’s door, telling her she has to listen to him. He can’t stop thinking about her, he says, then tells her he’s missed her ever since she stormed out on him. Belle’s still furious over what he did to Jada, but EJ keeps insisting he’s innocent — and there’s no proof he did anything. “I know that you don’t want to walk away from what we have.”
Belle tells him off some more, saying she thought he would change, but he never will. EJ wanders into the apartment, and Belle keeps telling him that he can’t say anything to make this better. Jada, Rafe, Ava — he’s sadistic and heartless. She goes on for a while until EJ jumps in saying they don’t have to let anything come between us.

She then slips up and refers to him as her “boyfriend,” which EJ loves, which gets more threats to send him to prison. EJ taunts her, moving closer, and just like that, we’re back to them making out. And throwing their clothes off in the bedroom.
They finish and Belle’s already wracked with regret. This could cost her her job if Paulina finds out. “Then don’t tell her!” Just tell Paulina that there is no case, he says. There’s no evidence and she just has to make everyone accept that. “Wow.” Belle accuses EJ of coming over to seduce him into dropping the investigation.
She starts yelling at him again, this time quite literally shoving him out of bed and shouting until he picks up his clothes and leaves.
Kate Tells Johnny How He Was Conceived
Johnny gets an earful from Grandpa Roman when he tells him EJ did the same damn thing as Feniger did. “If Arnold Feniger is a rapist, then so is EJ DiMera.” Roman tries backing down, not wanting to hurt Johnny, then runs off to the back of the pub. Kate arrives, and Johnny fills her in on the whole EJ rapist thing. Kate just stares at him.

“You know something, don’t you?” He wants the truth. She tells him this is a conversation he needs to have with his mom, which confuses him more, knowing this is one thing Sami would never defend EJ over. So Kate finally relents. “Your mother is the woman that your father raped.”
How? When? Kate tries running off, but it’s too late.
They sit down at a table, and Johnny tells her not to leave anything out. Kate lays out what happened with Lucas getting injured in the mountains and nearly dying, and EJ forcing Sami to sleep with him in order to save him. Johnny takes it in and punches the table.
He doesn’t want to believe it, but Kate insists he knows it’s true. Johnny wants to know when it happened, and Kate tells him before he was born, saying they made a pact to keep it from him and Allie. “Allie??” That’s when Johnny realizes that’s how they were conceived. “Oh my God. OK… That’s the story of how I was conceived.” Allie was conceived out of love, he was the product of rape. He rushes out, despite Kate’s cries to stop him.
Paulina Tells Chanel Her Plan
Paulina’s visiting Chanel at the mansion to tell her how well her talk with Amy went. But there’s still one sticking point for her: EJ. But Paulina assures Chanel that EJ won’t be a problem much longer — she’ll send him to prison. Belle, she insists, is even committed to throwing the book at him. (Or herself. Either or.) Paulina thinks Belle will keep her promise to stay away from EJ. “She knows what’s at stake.”

Chanel acknowledges EJ being gone would be a relief, but he’s still Johnny’s dad and Johnny still loves him. Paulina shrugs that off.
Johnny Punches EJ
In the show’s final moments, Belle calls Paulina to break the news that she has to recuse herself from EJ’s case. Paulina just makes a face.
Roman comes back out to the front and greets Kate with a kiss… Then she tells him about her conversation with Johnny. “Oh no.” They’ve tried so hard to protect him from the truth, and now it’s over. “Damn it.”
