Gabi drops by to visit Gwen. Actually, Gwen asked her to come over to commission a Gabi Chic Original for New Year’s Eve! Gabi scoffs until Gwen throws money at her. Done and done!
Speaking of money, Gabi’s curious about whether Gwen’s heard from Dimitri. Nah, Dimitri’s vanished. So convenient! But Gwen reassures Gabi that neither him nor Stefan missing means anything bad happened. That’s a setup if we ever heard it.

The two bond over their respective husbands’ betrayals and share an eggnog toast or ten. Are we witnessing a new friendship bloom? The alcohol may be helping… Eventually, Gabi admits Leo’s growing on her. He really is sorry and misses Gwen. Gwen makes a face and claims she’s happy for him and misses him. And Gabi can tell him that.
Leo’s Not Backing Down
Leo and Javi talk about Christmases past as they wrap presents. Turns out, Diana Colville wasn’t big on Christmas. They also have their wedding to plan, which turns the topic to the missing DiMeras — and EJ’s threats. Leo won’t drop the story, Javi’s fears or not!
He’s got journalistic integrity or something. Enough to risk angering Gwen again by digging into her and EJ. Or maybe find out enough to get her to abandon EJ and become friends again. What’s a little integrity without benefiting yourself?
Did Cat Crack the DiMera Case?
Rafe finds Cat working away on his FBI computer, searching for Chad. That seems like an inter-agency security faux pas, but what are rules anymore? But hey, Cat found that Peter just paid a secret visit to Aremid. And he’s still there, at least according to his phone!
As they send agents over, Leo calls Cat, pretending to be someone from the hospital to get secret lab info. It… doesn’t work. At all.

So Rafe heads home to yell at Leo but gets distracted when Cat calls with the news that Peter’s not at Aremid. He was only there a couple hours before leaving. And there was a DiMera groundskeeper who she talked to who heard some strange noises coming from around the family crypt. Cat cracked the case!
When Rafe gets off the phone, Leo says he heard something by the crypt, too. Halloween night, in fact. (Oh yeah! Wow, has this been going on that long?)
Will Peter Kill the DiMeras?
Peter rehashed his poison gas threats as his siblings demand to know why he’s doing all this. He says he’s just taking care of himself because the rest of the family never cared about him. So he’s going to kill them all and be The Heir.
OK, Peter’s just sounding whiny now. But also… mentally unstable. He says they’re all ambitious, greedy monsters — including Theo, who took the CEO job. Tony and EJ try pointing out Megan could be a problem, too, but Peter’s not worried. She’s obsessed with Bo. And Stefan? He’s dead.

There’s been no sightings of him for months and when he called Vivian to check, she broke the news that he’d passed a few months back. And that’s what gave him the idea to bury them all in the crypt and be the last DiMera standing.
Kristen tries appealing to her brother’s better nature and the sweet little boy he used to be. Peter freaks out when she calls Stefano their father. He destroyed their family and the DiMeras are monsters — especially EJ. Chad tells him they’ll never get him to turn against EJ, just Peter, “you loser!” (Good one, Chad.)
Kristen sees her opening, though, and promises she’ll never turn against Peter. She creeps over to him like he’s a skittish tiger, tells him it’s the two of them against the world and throws EJ under the bus. It works! Peter promises to save her and only her.
In the Show’s Final Moments
Gabi and Gwen both had fun together. Hopefully, Gabi has a driver, though, because the slurring has started. Oh, good, she’s getting a rideshare! Responsible drinking, folks. So long as they’re both sincere (a big if), friendship started! Gwen calls someone as soon as Gabi’s gone, saying she’ll need a New Year’s Eve date for a wedding.

More: Is Stephanie’s stalker tied to Peter?
Outside the crypt, someone’s watching on a camera, and as Peter wishes everyone a Merry Christmas, Kristen bonks him over the head and sits down to cry.
