Stephanie and Alex walk through the square talking about how Steve’s trailing along behind them invisibly, which is just weird. Is he hiding in the bushes?? Steph spots Chad and he congratulates them on the engagement. Oh, and he’ll put it in the paper! (Great idea, what with someone obsessed with Stephanie. Brilliant all around, folks.)

Stephanie Yells at Alex

After he leaves, Stephanie gushes on about how much she loves Alex and how ready she is for marriage, but then he tells her that he cancelled her book tour. That goes over like a lead balloon. He does not make decisions for her without talking to her first.

Alex digs himself a deeper hole until Stephanie walks off in disgust. But they kiss and make up before she can even get across the square. She’s afraid of letting Titan down and is afraid One Stormy Night will be her only success.

Oh, speaking of creepy stalker, someone in a black hoodie is sitting in the square, face hidden, recording the couple on their phone. Steve must be lost in those bushes to miss that.

Will Kristen and Rafe Team Up?

Kayla breaks the news to Kristen that Peter’s gone. Please, Dr. Rolf injected him. That “body” is going to vanish long before Kayla gets to the autopsy. Kayla heads back out to the nurses’ station where she fills Chad in on Peter, then has to do the same when Jada and Rafe come in looking for a statement.

Chad offers his sympathies to Kristen, who’s heartbroken over how Peter reacted when he woke up. Chad tells her to snap out of it. She put Peter’s fate in God’s hands and God chose. (Well, Rolf would certainly like to think of himself like that…)

Rafe drops in after some more encouragement/Peter berating from Chad, and wants to question her about potential Peter accomplices. Kristen knows nothing and is so utterly defeated and miserable that even Rafe feels bad for her. He mentions losing his sister here, too, and talks through his own guilt. “Peter’s death is not your fault.” Well, Rafe, on a technical level… It kind of is. But Peter did start it, so he brought it on himself. In any case, Kristen wants revenge on EJ, so how about they team up?

Will Theo Go Back to Being CEO?

Gabi visits Theo in the hospital where he’s hopped up on the good stuff. She feels bad about how she treated him when he was named CEO and is glad he’s back and OK. He’s a good man.

Just as Gabi’s telling Theo that at least all of this brought the DiMeras closer together, Jada visits for a round of questioning. And to tell him how scared she was to see him near death. Is it official business or official flirting, Jada?

Oh, it’s the first. She takes his statement on the crypt, then tells him about Peter’s fate. Theo muses that his mom may have protected him as a kid, but he’s finally learning “what it means to be a DiMera.” Nothing good, Theo. Nothing good. Except the fabulous wealth…

Belle and Chad Together??

Belle and Philip catch up in the Pub. He offers some words of comfort over dealing with her dad not being there and encourages Belle to take her time with the process, then heads to work. Wait. Isn’t it New Year’s Day? Well, Xander will be happy.

Chad shows up as Belle’s leaving and awkwardly brings up how they matched on a dating app?! Well, he is the safer DiMera sibling. They agree it’s probably a rebound thing for both (yes, Belle, with Chad’s brother), but Chad still asks Belle on a date and she says yes!

In the Show’s Final Moments

Jada checks in on how Theo feels about going back to work, but it could take some time before he’s ready. He’s more eager to get to their second date.
