Days of Our Lives Thursday, January 2 Recap: EJ Stops Arnold & Jada’s Passion, Chanel Dumps Johnny and Belle’s Confession

Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers recap for Thursday, January 2, reveals that Chanel Dupree DiMera (Raven Bowens) demanded to know what Joy Wesley (AlexAnn Hopkins) meant by “what happened with” Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman).

Joy tried to talk her way out of it at first, but Johnny finally asked to speak with Chanel alone. That led to Johnny offering updates on how he met Joy at Small Bar when he was drowning his sorrows.

Johnny shared how it went down when he thought Chanel cheated on him, so he wound up drinking with Joy back in her hotel room. After Johnny kissed Joy, they made out on the bed and stripped down to their underwear.

However, Johnny pumped the brakes in the end – and DOOL’s flashback proved he was telling the truth about not actually sleeping with Joy.

Although Chanel believed Johnny’s story, she still slapped him over all the deception. Chanel found out Johnny only pretended to meet Joy in front of her – and then he lied about Joy hitting the sheets with Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) to cover his tracks, too.

Johnny cried and apologized profusely before begging Chanel to tell him they could move past this. Chanel insisted they couldn’t and declared that she could never forgive Johnny, who was forced to let her pass as she walked out on him.

Next on Thursday’s Days episode, Alex took Joy home and found out that things were blowing up with Johnny and Chanel. Joy worried she would be fired over this scandalous news, but Alex downplayed that idea.

Since Joy feared she helped destroy a marriage, she assumed everyone would hate her now. Alex insisted he wouldn’t and flirted with Joy before kissing her to prove she was hot.

After Alex pulled away, he decided he should head home since he didn’t want to take advantage of Joy when she was vulnerable. Joy told Alex not to go on Thursday’s Days episode, so they stripped down and kicked off a night of passion.

JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) and Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jimenez) had a similar notion at the Hernandez house, where she got honest with him. Gabi wasn’t ready for a full-blown relationship yet, but she was open to exploring the possibility of one.

Once Gabi acknowledged their old spark was reigniting, JJ admitted he felt it, too. Gabi asked JJ if he wanted to spend the night with her, so he quickly agreed and took her up to her bedroom.

After Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) took Stephanie Johnson (Abigail Klein) back to her place, she confessed that she wasn’t over Alex yet – though she wanted to be. Stephanie didn’t think she was compatible with Alex, but it was still hard to let go.

Philip understood since he felt the same way about Chloe Lane (Nadia Bjorlin), so Stephanie thought they could help each other and suggested taking things to the bedroom.

While Stephanie and Philip geared up for a passionate encounter, EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) gave Belle Black (Martha Madison) a New Year’s Eve kiss on the cheek.

After EJ watched Arnold Feniger (Galen Gering) plant a big smooch on Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) while posing as Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering), he dragged Arnold out to the DiMera foyer and berated him.

EJ warned that Arnold had better not sleep with Jada and ultimately made an excuse to stop him from going home with her. Once EJ lied to Jada about Steve Johnson’s (Stephen Nichols) phone call, “Rafe” played along about a top-secret case and said he didn’t know when he’d be back.

Nevertheless, “Rafe” assured Jada that he’d be home in time for their wedding at the end of the month.

Although Arnold nearly kissed Jada again on Thursday’s Days episode, EJ faked a coughing fit to stop him. “Rafe” gave Jada a peck on the head instead as they said their goodbyes.

Once the topic of EJ’s district attorney replacement came up, he ranted about that “unfortunate son of a bitch.” Belle confessed she was the “unfortunate son of a bitch” who was taking over, so EJ looked livid.
