Days of Our Lives thrills as Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd) just shocked her therapist when she tried to assault somebody this week. Now, Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) is going to be headed up to Bayview to see her client. Will Sophia be looking for a new partner in crime? And if so, will her lawyer step up for her again?
Let’s talk about sassy, slappy Sophia, who is absolutely ready to fly the cuckoo’s nest. Her recent partner in crime, Rachel Black (Alice Halsey), got busted helping Sophia sneak out again. Now she needs help from somebody new.
Sophia Choi Attacks Holly Jonas During a Bayview Therapy Session on Days of Our Lives
Recently, Bayview therapist Dr. Gregory invited Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis) up to visit Sophia to try and work through some of the teen’s issues and hopefully to get her to start communicating. However, that situation with Holly escalated very quickly and turned potentially violent.
Sophia kept up her fake silence, but she hauled off and tried to slap her former best friend, Holly. Before an all-out Sophia versus Holly catfight could break out, Dr. Gregory stepped in and stopped Sophia. Holly then read Sophia for filth over all the things she’s done and stormed out of the mental hospital. After Holly left, Dr. Gregory did commend Sophia. She was proud that she expressed her feelings with that note she wrote that said in all caps, “I HATE HER.”
But then the doctor also dropped a bomb on Sophia. Dr. Gregory told Sophia that she can’t be around Rachel anymore because of the recent escape that she made. When Rachel was caught in Sophia’s bed, the jig was up. But at least Rachel helped out by stealing that cash from Brady Black (Eric Martsolf). And now Sophia has a phone.
Melinda Trask and Sophia Choi: A History of DOOL Scams
After Dr. Gregory ticked off Sophia with the ban on being around Rachel and left the room, we saw Sophia whip out that contraband cell phone. The very first person she texted was Melinda. This is the same lawyer who helped Sophia stage a phony baloney birth and adoption scenario, which included Melinda getting Sophia a fake baby belly to wear around for weeks.
That’s the same sketchy Melinda that helped another bad lawyer, Sloan Petersen (Jessica Serfaty), steal Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker)’s baby and get away with it. Of course, we all know that Melinda has a soft spot for Sophia and the situation she’s in because Melinda was also a scared teen mom with her whole life ahead of her. Her parents forced her to let them adopt her daughter, Haley Chen (Thia Megia), so Melinda knew what it was like to have controlling parents and very little say in a teen pregnancy situation.
Sophia didn’t even have to ask for her help, really. As soon as she told Melinda that she had dropped her baby boy at the fire station after giving birth alone in her room, Melinda immediately got busy setting up a fake adoption. The goal was to trick Tate Black (Leo Howard) into thinking his daughter was in Chicago and wasn’t the little firehouse baby boy.
The Truth About Baby Trey and Sophia Choi’s Faked Catatonia on Days
Along the way, we saw Sophia turn to Melinda again and again, like when it came out that Tate was not her baby daddy and it was actually Aaron Greene (Louis Tomeo). To be fair, Sophia didn’t know for certain. She just knew there was a slim chance Aaron might be the dad. And she kind of pushed it to the back of her mind. That’s why Sophia was legitimately shocked when it came out that Aaron was Little Trey’s bio dad.
That public confrontation at the Brady Pub with her mom Amy Choi (Shi Ne Nielson), Tate, Brady, Holly, Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu), and Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart) led to a breakdown that landed Sophia in the mental hospital. But for a while now, that little liar has been faking her catatonia and kept this whole nervous breakdown thing going.
When she was confronted by her mom, Amy’s, outrage, Sophia did legitimately collapse. But then at Bayview, she recovered pretty fast. She decided to hide it and scam the Bayview staff to basically avoid all accountability. Rachel is pretty much the only one who knows Sophia can talk, but I expect Melinda will find out the truth soon about this con on Days of our Lives.
2026 Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Sophia Targets Holly and Tate
Right now, Sophia is angry that she lost her confidant and her partner in crime, Rachel. Dr. Gregory has told Sophia and Rachel both they need to make friends with other Bayview kid residents, so we could see some random new Bayview kids over the next few weeks.
My main concern is what Sophia has planned for when she escapes again or when she gets a release. We have a 2026 spoiler that says she’s on the loose again and she targets Holly. It looks like Sophia is not quite done with her obsession with Tate, according to those official spoilers.
Days of our Lives: Sophia Targets Johnny & Chanel
Plus, Sophia wants her baby away from Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) and Chanel Dupree (Raven Bowens), who she thinks are bad people and bad parents. So the question is, now that Sophia’s contacted her lawyer, what will she ask Melinda to do? I’m sure the legal eagle is going to head over to Bayview to see Sophia after this urgent text.
Maybe it’s legal advice she wants, like when she can get out of Bayview and if she can avoid prison. I also expect Sophia is going to pull Melinda aside to talk in private so she can actually speak to her, showing her lawyer that she’s not really mute while still keeping Dr. Gregory and the staff in the dark.
Will Sophia Blackmail Melinda to Facilitate a Bayview Escape?
Sophia wants out of Bayview so she can get payback on Holly, Johnny, and Chanel, steal her baby. And then chase after Tate. But Melinda may not want to jump into another scheme. She barely escaped going to jail for helping Sophia with the adoption scheme, but that devious teenager may blackmail Melinda into helping her.
Sophia knows enough to get Melinda disbarred and sent to prison. For some of the scamming, Sophia had just turned 18. And for some of it, I think she was still a minor, so she could even try and blame it on Melinda. I can imagine Sophia trying to get Melinda to help her steal the baby, but there is no way Melinda would do that again. And I think she’s done stealing babies.
I don’t think she would help her do anything to Holly, either. But I do think Sophia will try and use Melinda’s legal talents. If she can get Sophia out of Bayview and released into somebody else’s custody—maybe even Melinda herself—that would be her best move.
Sophia Won’t Go Home to her Mom on DOOL
Sophia wouldn’t want to go back home to her mom Amy’s house because she already had her on lockdown. There’s a chance Sophia may say, “Can’t you get me out of Bayview and seeing a therapist on an outpatient basis?” Or she may just flat-out blackmail Melinda into helping her escape.
I could see Sophia lying to Melinda and saying, “Help me escape and I’ll go away. You’ll never see me again.” But if Melinda does help her, we all know Sophia is not going to run—not without getting that baby, getting revenge on Holly. And getting her hands back on Tate. We’ll see. I do hope that Melinda doesn’t wind up in trouble because she’s got a soft spot for psycho Sophia.
