Gabi drops by the Hernandez home but Ari tries shuffling her off in a tone that’s “hostile and passive aggressive,” which Gabi will not have. They fight over Gabi’s helicopter parenting (“any other pop-psych word you want to throw at me?!”), until Ari stops it all with “everything always had to be about you, I’m grown up and it’s too late.” Gabi already missed her childhood.

“Where did you think I was?! I went to prison for a crime I didn’t commit!” Ari eventually gets to what we knew this was all about: Seeing Liam. She claims Liam’s bettering himself, so Gabi warns her that being with a guy you’re hoping to “better” is a surefire way to find heartbreak. (Truth. Never try to “fix” anyone.) But, fine, Ari needs to learn from her mistakes.

Jada Has Bad News for the Chois

Sophia’s parents (yup, Amy and Jason, home from a business trip!) meet with Jada at the SPD station. Sadly, they’ve moved past the search and rescue timeframe and into search and recovery. Jada gently says that they just want to focus on bringing their daughter back to lay to rest.

Amy’s heartbroken and doesn’t understand why they aren’t doing more to find her. “I will not accept that my Sophia is gone!” And when Jada’s gone, Amy lays into her husband for not backing her up and just accepting Sophia’s gone. His heart is shattered, he loves Sophia more than anything, but reality is — Amy cuts him off. She will cling to hope for as long as it exists.

Holly Can’t Calm Down

Tate rolls his eyes as Holly snaps at him, waiting for her grades. Worrying about grades is lame. Instead, she should do something fun, like kiss him! That doesn’t work, so he suggests a picnic by the lake. (There’s a lake? Can we see a lake?) But hell no!

“Being by water the whole day,” Holly insists, “we would just be thinking about Sophia the entire time!” (Does the river empty into the lake? Is that where Sophia ended up? Can we see more Salem waterways? Why am I more interested in this than their fight?) Holly admits she hasn’t felt the same since she was off the psych meds.

Tate tries sitting her down for some meditation, but now she’d rather kiss — just as Amy storms in! “Is this how you mourn the loss of your former best friend?!” She believes Tate when he says he’s so sorry, but accuses Holly of being a lying liar. Holly snaps. She’s not sorry Sophia’s gone! Now she can’t hurt Holly ever again!

Will Chanel Be OK?

Sarah gets Shawn ready for discharge. And she’s already let Jada know she can pick him up. Chanel, meanwhile, picks Johnny up from his hospital room and he insists on staying for her biopsy. While it happens, Shawn limps out to Johnny in the waiting area to catch up until Jada shows up, still rattled over her talk with the Chois.

After the biopsy, Sarah encourages Chanel to distract herself as best she can while they wait for results and just take this as it comes. Sarah sends her and Johnny off with strict instructions to take it easy while they recover, then lets out a huge sigh when they walk off.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Jada gets Shawn home and into bed, where she has everything ready for him: painkillers, his clothes, stuff from his place. She’s happy to “spoil” him and would be happy if he took advantage… of her. “Just kidding!” (Nah, you weren’t.)

Gabi brings up Stefan’s heartbreak and explains the divorce/inheritance stuff, which gets her and Ari bonding over the fragileness of life, from losing Stefan, to Sophia’s suicide. Gabi’s just terrified of something happening to Ari.

Amy’s aghast, but Holly won’t back off. She will not take the blame for Sophia’s choices and Tate’s attempt to calm everyone down goes nowhere. Holly’s a “trashy little liar,” and Amy vows to send her to Statesville. Sarah gets home, overhears it and steps in. “That is enough, Mrs. Choi!” She throws Amy out as Holly throws herself into Tate’s arms.
