EJ fills an eager Cat in on probate court, Marlena and Theo being named as executor. But don’t worry, she can still plan the will party (or whatever they’re calling it)! He texts Marlena to come over, then seems almost haunted and kind of begs Cat to get him out of the house. But he insists it just feels cramped since Kristen moved in, then asks Cat to dinner and it’s like nothing happened.

Will Marlena Help EJ?

Marlena and Chad catch up in the square, where he’s aghast to learn Kristen banned Marlena from seeing Rachel. He promises to talk to his sister, which gets Marlena reflecting on the “good” DiMeras and mentions Lexie and all the things their families have been through. As much as she hated Stefano, he had a huge part in her history.

But then EJ summons her to the mansion and she hurries over for a chat… About Cat. Marlena thinks they looked chummy when she walked in. Eventually, her questions lead to EJ asking if she can help him recall his memories. (From Italy!) Marlena tries foisting him off on another therapist, but he insists he trusts her until she backs down. Oh, and also, she’s in Stefano’s will. Marlena’s eye roll is epic.

Will Theo Come Clean?

Abe does what every dad does and pesters Theo at the Pub about what’s next now that he stepped down from DiMera. He’s not, of course, thrilled to learn Theo’s roped into being executor of Stefano’s will, but Abe drops it and just promises he’s going to claim Lexie’s inheritance for Theo.

He then mentions that Celeste (Lexie’s mom) was the only woman Stefano loved besides Marlena, “But he and Marlena never had a child together.” (Wait. Are we… No, they wouldn’t, would they?) In any case, Abe leaves as Chad joins the table, oh so curious about why his nephew stepped down from CEO.

Chad’s got EJ’s number, figuring he pushed Theo out, but Theo gets super defensive until Chad backs off. That was really just a pretense anyway, for Chad to talk to an ally about EJ having Abigail in the pod! Theo just sits bemused into silence until Cat rushes in to talk to them.

Will Stephanie and Alex Be OK?

Alex tells a shocked Stephanie that he has a daughter — with Joy, no less! Her alarm keeps ratcheting up as she learns Joy’s back in Salem. Neither of them can figure out who told her that he wanted kids! (Come on, I thought folks knew about Mike and Nancy. It’s not hard, people.)

Stephanie’s not having this at all. “She freaking ambushed you, Alex, with a baby!” She doubts Joy’s altruism and Alex’s distress. He got the baby he wanted. They go back and forth until Stephanie snaps at him, and Alex insists he can’t walk away from a child.

She takes a breath and tells him gently that he’s right. “But the reality is, Joy’s given you what I’m not sure I can.” This is a sign from the universe! (Lord, Stephanie, not one of those.) What if they weren’t meant to be?! She rushes out, hyperventilating.

Is Jeremy Trying to Get Stephanie?

Joy and Jeremy meet in Small Bar. She’s thrilled she listened and came back! Jeremy walks Joy through how he figured out Alex was the father of her baby (Thanks, Steph) and Joy says she didn’t tell anyone who the father was because her mom would have pushed her to milk the Kiriakis fortune for all it’s worth. It wasn’t worth it for Joy.

She just hopes none of this causes an issue for Alex and Stephanie. Oh, same, same! Jeremy agrees. Yeah, we aren’t buying his “I did this to help Steph and Alex” spiel. And neither is Joy. Jeremy insists Stephanie can do so much better than Alex, but Joy doubts that means him.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Alex tracks Joy down in the square and tells her to rush the paternity test. Today. Right this second! No prob. At the same time, Stephanie runs into Jeremy out in the park and breaks down, telling him all about her day. Whaaaat? He’s a father? Jeremy is surprised! Stunned, even! But he’s there to hug her.

Cat offers her services to Theo since he’s executor now, then gets awkward with Chad before grabbing her food. Theo tries tamping down Chad’s hopes about Abigail, but he just doesn’t trust EJ.

Marlena points out that she’s been a beneficiary of multiple of Stefano’s wills. So she simply must send her regrets. She can’t make it — until EJ points out that she needs closure to keep Stefano from living rent free in her head.
