Picking up from yesterday, Kristen has her meltdown as Judge Dabny threatens to give her the maximum penalty for perjury. Everyone but the judge just looks on in horror as flips out. Trask gets a 15 minute recess to shut Kristen up.

Rachel Wants to Do What’s Right

If Kristen can’t stay out of prison anyway, she doesn’t want Rachel to go through this. But Rachel wants to keep going, even though Belle can’t make any promises.

When the judge returns, Rachel stands up before anyone else can speak, lays out what happened in earnest tears. The judge is TICKED when she finds out Belle knew about this for some time, but the DA’s got some excuse about Kristen being kidnapped that only works in Salem. She lays out all the reasons why Rachel shouldn’t be charged. Then it’s time for EJ.

EJ Tries to Save Rachel

Despite a cold start in the square, Marlena and EJ warm up as they agree that they don’t want Rachel carrying this burden. EJ realizes Marlena knows something more but he gets called in to Judge Dabny before he can dig.

“I’m really sorry, Uncle EJ,” Rachel says as she leaves the court room, and we finally get to see a bit of the tender EJ again. He explains what happened on the record and defends his niece. The judge recesses for another 30 minutes to read Rachel’s full Bayview records. Which is… not good.

What Will Marlena Say?

Belle and Brady head out to fill Marlena in on the newest wrinkle. Judge Dabny will learn Rachel was discharged against medical advice. Then, Belle gets a text saying that Marlena has to testify now, because Kristen had to go and open her mouth about Marlena being a part of Rachel’s treatment.

Inside the Pub, Melinda gets the same text, which Kristen just shrugs off. “Marlena is not going to say anything that could send Rachel back to that horrible place.” (Yeah, think again, Kristen.)

Back inside, Judge Dabny is very disturbed at what she found. The early discharge, the Sarah attack… What does Marlena think? Is Rachel fit to be back in society? And here we go.

Everyone tries to stop this train, but it’s left the station. Marlena does what she thinks is right: She tells the judge that Rachel should still be in Bayview. (That pinching really bothered her.)

JJ’s Done

JJ’s struggling to focus on desk work at the station when Theo checks on him. JJ’s struggling a whole lot! He froze and Shawn got hurt. He’s sure Jada will ask for his badge and he’s ready to give it. Theo doesn’t have much to say, other than that JJ’s a good person.

Jada brings some flowers to Shawn from everyone at the station and surprises him with the news that Belle offered to move in to take care of him. Oops. Shawn’s not as excited about the prospect as Belle was!

Well, if not Belle, how about Jada? She offers to move him in. (Bye, Theo.) It takes some talking to assuage his ego (Yes, you’re a big tough man. We get it, Shawn.), but Jada convinces him to accept the help.

But the party’s over when JJ shows up to hand in his badge and gun. Again. Shawn tries shutting JJ up since, you know, he never told Jada what happened. But it’s too late. JJ’s done, he can’t do his job and he’s not coming back this time. (Knew it.) Jada tells JJ he did a brave thing. And Shawn? He filed a false statement. He could’ve cost someone their life.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Outside the Pub, EJ sees Theo and pretends he’s all happy about his nephew taking back over DiMera. Then he asks Theo to swing by the house tomorrow to show him something “that will mean a great deal to you.”

And yes, that’s Lexie. He calls to give the heads up to… Dr. Rolf? Rita? Whomever, it’s time for the reveal!

Judge Dabny vacates Kristen’s sentence, gives her time served for perjury and seals the records. But Rachel has to go back to Bayview under court supervision. Brady looks like his eyes are going to pop out of his head and Kristen gives Marlena a friendly glance death stare!
