By now, we’re sure just about every Days of Our Lives devotee — not to mention daytime viewer and, we’re sure, Ryan Gosling fan — has seen the actor’s Happy Sad Confused podcast interview with Josh Horowitz. While doing the press tour for his incredible new movie, Project Hail Mary, Gosling admitted to Horowitz that he was a huge fan of Days of Our Lives growing up, remembered how taken he was by Deidre Hall’s performance as a possessed Marlena, and shared how much respect he has for the amount of work that goes into daytime.
And as you can imagine, that didn’t go unnoticed with the folks over at Days of Our Lives — especially Hall herself! Marlena’s portrayer sent a video to Horowitz and, well, we never would have guessed what came next!
“Hi, Josh. Hi, Ryan,” Hall began, before good-naturedly adding, “Uh, Josh, it’s Deidre Hall. I know you don’t… Anyway.”
And yes, Horowitz did catch getting “dragged by Deidre Hall!” (No comment!) “I didn’t have this on my bingo card this week.” And hey, we didn’t have Ryan Gosling being invited to Days of Our Lives on our bingo card this decade, but here we are! Because that’s what happened.
“I caught the podcast,” Hall went on. “Oh my gosh, what fun! We played it in the dressing room and we played it in the makeup room and we’re just thrilled to be acknowledged and to be so well spoken of because we work really hard, as you acknowledge.”
“We think it would be nice if you wanted to come over and see what we do in our neck of the woods,” the daytime legend shared. “So this is an open invitation to visit the Days of Our Lives set. Nobody will be possessed,” she teased. “And if they are, I’ll keep an eye on you.”
Then again, from what Gosling said, he might actually enjoy a possession or two! And hey, if Dick Van Dyke could pop up on the show to play John’s one, true father, then we’re sure there’s plenty of room for a visit from a star like Gosling. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s an actual fan with a whole lot of respect for the genre!
If Days of Our Lives could snag him for a few episodes, who would you like Gosling to play?
