A cop hands EJ a phone in the interrogation room, which he promptly uses to call Rita. Belle walks in to exchange some quips over the call before EJ flat out says he had nothing to do with Stephanie. He didn’t know about Owen.

Can Belle Prove Anything?

Belle admits the kidnapper backed that up — as did Jeremy and Stephanie in saying Dr. Rolf was the one who found them. But Belle still demands answers about the secret lab, because why would it be secret if it wasn’t illegal? Well, EJ??

More: How ‘evil’ is EJ getting?

“It’s a private lab funded by private money,” EJ drawls. It’s none of her business. But Belle makes it her business, so EJ goes on a tirade about bold actions and rewards and world-changing research, and blah blah blah. As Belle says, “When Dr. Rolf is involved, it’s usually against the laws of Salem. Not to mention the laws of nature.” But she has to let him go.

Will Gabi Tell Philip the Truth?

Gabi, knowing exactly where Philip is going with his confession, tries encouraging to leave the past in the past. But he plows right on and tells her. All of it. Quelle surprise! Gabi’s super sympathetic over how stressful it must have been when Tony tanked Titan. Then again, that was her fault…

Speaking of which, Gabi’s feeling the need to fess up, too! But Ari ruins the moment when she shows up in tears. She tells Gabi about the fight with Holly in between sobs and Gabi launches into full mom-mode, promising that everything will work out the way it’s meant to.

Ari continues on her way and Philip returns with a rose. He still wants Gabi to continue with what she was about to say, but she brushes it away and Philip’s too relieved that Gabi handled his confession so well to worry about it. Why push your luck?

Will Klaus Kill Liam?

Roman gives JJ and Theo a St. Patrick’s Day mocktail as thanks for helping get Stephanie home. (They did what, exactly?) JJ thanks Theo for his honesty and for forgiving him and insists Theo made him a better cop. Cheers!

More: It looks like Steve found a new partner!

Liam shows up at the Pub, followed by Klaus, slinking around, peeking around corners, whipping out his gun. Super inconspicuous. He follows Liam in, helps himself to a booth, then gets a panicked Alamainian call about Ivan and Vivian missing. Theo spots Liam and makes him sweat a bit before telling him simply, “Do better” and returning to JJ.

Ari Isn’t Scared Off

Ari chats up JJ and Theo briefly when she gets to the Pub, then moves on to catching up with great-grandpa Roman, before joining Liam. He’s dumbfounded. She’s related to the bar owner, the book shop owner; half the town!

But then JJ stomps over and says Ari should stay clear of Liam. “And that is my overprotective cousin, JJ.” Ari doesn’t care that Liam’s been arrested. So has her mom and half of Salem. Please, more than half.

Is Leo OK?

Dimitri throws Leo down just in time to save him from the assassin. He bashes Leo’s head in the process, but no damage is done. No permanent damage. Hopefully. Leo’s a teensy bit woozy. And confused. Hilarity ensues as Leo’s very “ty-ty” and wants a nap, shooting or not.

More: Are Dimitri and Leo leaving next?

Luckily, Andrew shows up at the door. He and Paul got the shooter. And Leo’s fully concussed, adding happy comments from the peanut gallery as Andrew shares the news that the house was empty, and they’re running DNA.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Outside the Pub, Theo and JJ both bemoan Ari hanging with Liam — and while they’re at it. Then Klaus does his sneaky sneak thing behind them and pulls the gun back out. JJ and Theo both watch Gabi and Philip go into the Salem Inn.

Andrew says the ISA tracked down the German cook who was feeding Dimitri while he was captive and she confirmed his story. So they believe Dimitri’s innocence… But Vivian and Ivan are missing and he’s the main suspect now.

Belle admits the case isn’t solid enough yet, but she’s not giving up. EJ’s happy to flirt on his way out, but Belle’s not playing. EJ calls Rita and gets cut off mid rant: “So it’s been handled? Excellent. I’m sorry I doubted you.”
