The bad news is, it looks like Chad’s little get-away for a few weeks on Days of Our Lives is actually stretching out to a couple months. The good news? We know the exact date that he’s coming home!

Days of Our Lives tipped us off on their Instagram page, with a post welcoming Conner Floyd and declaring that his first appearance as Chad would be April 21st! As Floyd shared in the video, “Man, I’ve been waiting to say that for a long time!” How long? Well, we learned he’d joined the show and would be taking over from Billy Flynn all the way back in June!

Flynn, of course, has been over at The Young and the Restless playing Cane, which was Floyd’s home until his character Chance was killed off.  When Soaps.com spoke with Floyd about the crossover, he admitted that he did “wish I would have got a little bit more time with him over at Y&R. We had some good scenes.” Heck, they even got to play a death scene together, with Floyd’s Chance dying in Cane’s arms, giving us a bit of a “Chad” death and rebirth all in one scene!

Flynn “was going where I was and I was going where he was,” Floyd explained, “so I kind of gave him the lay of the land. He did the same. We broke down Chad, which was a lot of fun.”

The two went over relationships, storylines and what was going on in Chad’s life when Flynn exited, “and it was super helpful. Billy kind of gave me the whole breakdown before I got here, which was nice, so I kinda felt like I’d been here for some time when I walked through the doors. He’s a great actor. He’s a good friend now, which is fun.”

Over on the Instagram post, Floyd shared how thankful he was “to be a part of the Days family. Thank you for this opportunity. I’m very excited for you guys to see the storylines we’ve been working on. Man, we’ve got some cool stuff coming; get your popcorn ready!”

And he knows that he’s ‘got big shoes to fill,’ particularly when it comes to the DiMera legacy, messy as it is! And between Lexie’s resurrection, Stefano’s burial, EJ’s machinations with Johnny and Theo and him taking on the Phoenix ring, there is a lot going on in the family right now.

“I’m ready to carry the name,” Floyd continued, “I’m up for the challenge. I’ve been bringing it. I will continue to bring it for you guys. Thank you for all the love and support that I’ve gotten so far. You guys have been very welcoming and kind, and I truly appreciate that. See you in the Brady’s pub.

So mark your calendars for April 21! It’s still over a month and a half away, and a lot can happen in that time, but the countdown has begun. We’re sure Floyd has been knocking it out of the park and can’t wait to see the new Chad!
