Something’s up with Marlena. This isn’t the first time we’ve noted it, but after Wednesday’s Days of Our Lives, we have some questions. Actually, we have one very big question: What did Marlena mean by her comment??

For those who haven’t watched yet, Marlena was in a therapy session with Xander, her first day back in her office. As he was telling her about his decision to let go of Sarah, let go of his anger and embrace his no-strings fling with Gwen, he was called away for an emergency with Victoria.

Xander rushed out and, once she was alone, Marlena whispered to herself: “It’s getting more dangerous.”

No other explanation! We listened to it a few times and it looks like we weren’t the only ones. Days of Our Lives Reddit is full of people scratching their heads over the comment and re-listening to it.

So what did she mean?? Is Salem getting more dangerous? Her practice? Xander? Is she even aware that she said it? Does Marlena know what she means or was it reflexive? As Difficult_Cake_7460 noted on Reddit, “That seemed more sinister than just a Xander thing. Weird.”

The only thing we can guess at is it having something to do with the “quest” that we were promised Marlena would embark on beginning early this year after getting “life changing news.” But even that’s a big question mark.

We never really did get an explanation for her Queen of the Night dreams — they seemed too vivid and too haunting to be grief and Lyme’s disease — so it could be tied to that. And that could mean that Marlena’s mind isn’t entirely her own.

About all we do know is that, after just one, whispered line, we are definitely intrigued! We don’t know where this is going, but it already feels like it’s already somewhere big.
