Stephanie and Jeremy Try Desperately to Get Someone’s Attention as Dr. Rolf Finally Opens the Green Tube

Theo heads out after breakfast with Abe and Paulina to meet with Johnny. Abe acts all magnanimous, pretending he’s at peace with running DiMera.

Johnny gets into the DiMera office and pulls out Trey’s silver christening cup), then Theo joins. He’s ready to get back to it. They sign the papers and Johnny wishes Theo luck — not that he’ll need it, since DiMera’s been so steady. Johnny walks Theo through Bonnie’s novel and shows him the cover mockup. It’s all systems go!

EJ and Xander Still Hate Each Other

EJ’s on the phone with Chad, reassuring him that there’s nothing he can do for Stephanie in Salem. But his mood sours when Gwen and Xander join him for breakfast and Xander feeds Gwen some of EJ’s scones! (Not a euphemism.)

EJ and Xander trade insults about who works less (fair), before Gwen suggests they focus on Stephanie instead of attacking each other. None of them do that, but it was a good try. Xander has to get off for a work meeting and says a very touchy-feely goodbye to Gwen.

EJ’s face is priceless, then he snaps at Gwen that she can do better than Xander. That settled, the two leave for the hospital to check on their project. Raising the dead is big bucks!

Kate and Xander Explain Their Johnny Plan

Kate and Xander meet in the middle of the square. They’re avoiding Philip’s prying eyes at work, by meeting right in front of literally everyone else. Once Johnny rushes Bonnie’s book to press, they’ll hit him with “a monster lawsuit for plagiarism.” Ah. Seems flimsy, but OK.

Luckily, no one at DiMera read Stephanie’s book, so no one knows the peril. Xander’s worried that the lawsuit won’t move fast enough to shore up Titan, but it’s their only bet. They’ll keep it afloat, no matter what.

How Unhinged Is Owen?

Stephanie and Jeremy wake up, freezing and thirsty. Stephanie’s terrified for the both of them — but especially for Jeremy. And then she apologizes one more time for good measure, but once again, he’s all good! With nothing there to help them escape, Stephanie suggests they talk Owen into letting them go.

Speaking of talking, Owen’s doing plenty of it with maybeprobably-Lexie. He asks for relationship advice since she had such a happy marriage. He doesn’t want to mess things up with Stephanie. Aww. That’s sweet. Wait, no, psychotic. That’s psychotic.

As he’s trying to think of a way to make everything work out, the tube opens and Stephanie sits up and greets him. Owen, it’s safe to say, is cuckoo bananas. Imaginary Stephanie tells him to unburden himself, so Owen walks through his Jeremy Problem.

OwenStephanie suggests he eliminate Jeremy without bloodshed — too much cleanup. So maybe a drug. After some creepy imaginary flirting, Owen tosses the engagement ring he yanked from RealStephanie’s finger in the trash.

Can Stephanie and Jeremy Escape?

Owen cheerfully pops back into the store room and threatens Jeremy into sharing how he found Stephanie. Jeremy says he just followed Owen and the stalker’s response? “Guess I’ve gotta be more careful.” Ya think?

The duo then turn down water again, so Owen re-gags the captives and leaves for the day. Shortly after, Dr. Rolf relieves Owen of his duties and says EJ’s stopping by for a visit. Owen hightails it out fast — that’s one reunion he doesn’t need!

Can Justin Comfort Alex?

Alex wakes up on his and Stephanie’s couch, sees her rings on the table, and breaks down. When Justin shows up, he just offers what comfort he can before. Alex pulls back and loses it, wishing the kidnapper had gotten him.

He gets close to saying Stephanie could be dead, but Justin stops him in his tracks. As Justin says, Stephanie has friends in every agency — SPD, FBI, ISA, all the three-letter places — and this will have a happy ending. It turns out Alex dreamt of Adrienne telling him the exact same thing!

In the Show’s Final Moments

Xander asks Kate if she’s OK with doing this to Johnny, and she’s willing to toss Roman’s grandchild under the bus to save Titan. Kate’s not worried about Roman or Abe figuring out she planned this.

Gwen and EJ visit Rolf and she spots Stephanie’s ring in the trash. But it’s a minor detail, especially once Dr. Rolf says that while their patient isn’t ready to wake, he is ready to open the pod and show them. So all three bask in the astonishing accomplishment of the open pod. We see nothing, but apparently, she looks amazing and EJ and Gwen are both very, very pleased!

Stephanie and Jeremy hear EJ talking and start screaming through their gags.
