EJ and Cat meet in the Bistro for work on Valentine’s Day for some reason. (At this point, we may as well play a drinking game for every time someone mentions Valentine’s Day…) She notices his fancy new ring, “a personal effect of my father’s.” And cue the weirdness.

They talk a bit about Stefan and EJ admits he never actually felt like a brother. But he’s bothered by the lack of mourning from everyone. Who’d grieve him if he died? Not Paulina! She walks in to randomly take him down a few pegs about the hospital problems since he took over. Neighboring buildings are complaining about their unusually high power usage, so she accuses him of stealing it.

EJ asks for some time alone, so Cat steps out and he demands to know what she wants. The city needs to inspect the lab. EJ stonewalls her and threatens her with harassment charges, so she suggests that if he ever wants to repair his relationship with Johnny, “maybe you should start by not being an ass to the people he loves!”

Chad and Cat Say Goodbye

As Cat’s texting Rafe about Paulina’s electricity theory, Chad runs into her in the square and tells her the news that he’s heading to Arizona. And he’s going to miss her. She’ll miss him, too. They stare for a bit, Chad starts to leave, then he turns back and pulls her into a passionate kiss!

Wait, no, Cat’s alone. Paulina snaps her out of her reverie — it was just in her head, Chad never turned back.

In the Show’s Final Moments
