Tony and Johnny chat about who’s running DiMera Enterprises in the hospital — Tony still insists that Johnny’s the only one who can be CEO right now. He’s got no interest and Johnny’s, apparently, having fun.

Then Anna rushes over into Tony’s arms, apparently seeing him for the first time since he got out. She’s been out of her mind with worry for weeks, but all is right with the world. Anna asks how everyone’s doing, and Tony tells her they’ll meet at Peter’s bedside later to decide if they’ll keep him alive.

Anna cheerfully offers to put Peter in the ground and save them the trouble. Pish posh, “backstabbing and betrayal” is just a DiMera family trait, Tony says. At least this time brought them together again!

Johnny and Chanel Don’t See Eye to Eye

Chanel tells Trey that he’s going to be a big brother. Which, of course, he’s too young to understand, but also, isn’t it way too early in the pregnancy to be sure of with Chanel’s medical history?? Johnny gets home to break the news that he’s still playing CEO — which Chanel is not happy about.

He promises it’s only until Theo’s better, but it’s NBD. Chill out, Chanel. That goes as well as you’d think, even with his promise that his focus is on her and Trey. He just wants that sweet paycheck, never mind his trust fund. Johnny pivots nicely and says he’s sad Chanel thought her cancer was back and didn’t say anything to him.

What Is Kate’s Plan for DiMera?

Kate lets herself into Xander’s office to talk strategy now that Titan and DiMera have been separated just in time for the end of the year deadline. The two of them are the only ones left willing to fight dirty. He’d just have to keep Maggie out of the loop, but Xander doesn’t like the thought of that.

But Kate’s got a way with words and lays out her plan to save Titan — and take advantage of Johnny. She hands over Bonnie’s manuscript as part of her master plan, and where in the world is this going??

What Will Gwen Do to Leo?

Gwen’s ordering a wedding present for Leo and Javi when EJ gets home. She’s not invited — yet — but she’s working on it. Gwen wants to know what he and Rita were talking about when he was snatched. If it was about taking Leo out, she wants him to back off. But it’s not out of any fondness for him. She’s getting her own retribution in her own way.

And she’s got a foolproof plan to keep him distracted. After she leaves, Susan rushes in to give her son a big hug and welcome him home. (Where has she been for the last week?) She asks if this last experience changed him at all, but not this time. Not like the last time lasted, anyway…

Will Gwen Be At the Wedding?

Leo gives Javi a massive engagement ring — just “a few short hours” before their wedding! (Did we just jump from Christmas night to New Year’s Eve? Yes, we did, because they then get into New Year’s resolutions.) Javi’s still worried about EJ hurting Leo, but the journalist is determined to figure out what’s going on.

Leo finally gets confirmation on what Gwen and EJ were talking about at the gala — some kind of delivery they were waiting on. Leo ponders inviting Gwen to the wedding to dig for more dirt, but they have a poor track record with weddings. You know, Dimitri, cheating, all that stuff.

Javi convinces Leo to invite her anyway, so he gets right on calling her. All three meet in the square, where they’ll hold the wedding, as per Salem tradition, and Leo and Javi ask her to come to the wedding. “I accept!” Javi asks Gwen to get EJ to back off of Leo. She already did, so long as he keeps his “big fat nose” out of EJ’s business. Ta-ta.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Kate does more explaining of “the plan” offscreen. It’s “shrewd, cunning” and not illegal, so Xander’s in. What in the world is going on?

Now that Elvis is home, Susan wants to know what Dr. Rolf’s doing in town. EJ won’t squeal. Susan’s still worried about EJ — and now Johnny since he’s CEO of DiMera. EJ’s resolving to repair his relationship with Johnny.
