Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And we have to admit, there’s a whole lot of smoke above Days of Our Lives’ EJ! We’ve been wondering who’s behind the DiMera family kidnappings and even came up with a handy list of suspects. EJ’s on it, of course, but he wasn’t our top choice. But maybe he should be.

Why EJ Probably Did It

The biggest reason we’ve had for not taking EJ kidnapping his family members seriously has been because it’s just too darn obvious. But that doesn’t mean it’s not true. As far as we know, EJ is the only member of the family currently working on some secret project.

He’s got big plans, and about the only thing we know about them is that we don’t yet know what the scope is. Nor do we know how far EJ’s fallen back to his legally dubious ways. If swiping his family members helps EJ accomplish his goals, he’d have no problem doing it. So long as they don’t get hurt, that is.

Stefan was, last we saw, kidnapped by Vivian. Megan’s been on the run, and there’s the very real possibility that EJ convinced Gwen to work with him by making sure Dimitri never returns to claim the fortune she’s been spending.

As for the Salem DiMeras, if EJ takes Tony off the board, he can step in to win Theo’s trust — and use it to boot him from the company and take it for himself. With Chad missing, he can delay Jack and Jennifer’s custody hearing — and, horrible as it is to do to a kid, make Thomas worry so much about his dad that he realizes how much he loves and wants to stay with him.

Kristen’s a bit of a puzzle, but EJ does know she doesn’t belong in prison since she didn’t actually shoot him. And on top if it all, the three Salemites are being held in the DiMera crypt, right in EJ’s back yard.

So, did EJ kidnap the DiMeras? He’s been so blasé about them all vanishing and evasive in promising he’s looking into it, Cat’s just about convinced he’s got something to do with it.

Now that she’s drugged him and has free reign to search the DiMera mansion (who’s left to stop her?) we might finally get an answer, one way or another.
